Despite Cringe's break-up only a few years ago, there is still a clamor among the true local music supporters who remember the legends and desperately want to see them rise up from the ashes. Cringe's songs spoke directly to the soul. Breaking down walls with the familiarity of real life perspectives and then infecting with emotional pulses of incredible depth and range.
Anything that makes THAT kind of impact on so many people should never be allowed to simply fade away. The reason you're here is to remember a band that OWNED Columbus for a number of years and still remains the number 1 band you're bound to hear "Oh, they should have been signed!" uttered when brought up in conversation. I started this profile for the following reasons:
(1) Tom's a good friend of mine and has, for some time, been a mentor of sorts for my own path as an artist and musician. This site partially pays honor to all he's done for me so far - because of all those who have felt something in Cringe's music touch them . . . this is the guy who was doing all the touching!
(2) I'm a fan. Plain and simple. Since the first (and only) time I played a show with Cringe back when I was DJing for the band LIVID (New Year's show with Supafreak & Bobaflex @ The Billiard Club 2002), their music and stage presence was awe inspiring. Even today, their album "Animation" spins at least twice a day and I've been using Cringe as part of my live DJ sets (when I spin) to incredibly positive reactions from the crowd!
A lot of you are asking if this site is an "omen" of sorts for things to come. Perhaps a reunion? The truth is that a lot would have to fall into place for that to become even a remote possibility - and right now that decision is between the members of Cringe alone. Regardless their plans for the future, Cringe's music, style, passion and legend live on here (for the time being).
While I can't be more specific at this time, DO stay tuned to CRINGE here for some incredible news due to be posted soon!
