In 2004, a group of friends with a shared desire for metal and a love for the local music scene decided it was time for them to have their own impact in music. It was out of this desire that Sourblood was created.
Starting as a simple four piece in a crowded basement, the sound they produced was raw and untamed, but the band kept progressing. Each show they played was a step in the right direction but even as the fan base began to grow, the band knew something was still missing. They wanted more depth and something that would give them the ability to progress in different musical directions. The answer was simple, a second guitarist.
With the edition of a second guitar, it seemed as if a whole new band had emerged overnight. The sounds became complex with intricate guitar solos and just an overall deeper, heavier, more intense sound. It seemed as if a whole new band had formed from a simple addition. Heads started to turn and ears started to open as more people started to take notice and the fan base was increasing at an unbelievable rate.
Turnout at shows nearly doubled as word began to spread about the not-so-new but heavier kids on the block. The amazing live performance that Sourblood brings with them to the stage every time they play only fuels the fire that continues to spread. The energy produced by the five together on stage is real, raw and adds even more life and intensity to the music they play.
Sharing the stage with national acts such as: Dope, Mushroomhead, Kittie, Flaw, 36 Crazyfists, In This Moment, Walls of Jericho, Soil, Straight Line Stitch, The Destro, Divine Heresy, Too Pure To Die, Woe of Tyrants, The Autumn Offering, As Blood Runs Black, Black Market Hero, Silent Civilian, Dead to Fall, Bobaflex, Cephalic Carnage, Nonpoint, Bleed the Sky, Nights Like These and many, many more have given Sourblood an even bigger boost and many fans who come to see these national acts have left as fans of Sourblood. However, its not just the fans that have taken notice to the progressions made by the band. Other outlets, such as Rage Rock Radio, are finally giving Sourblood the exposure that they have earned, featuring them as their artist of the month. Sourblood was has also been in the studio as guests promoting their CD release on the former Columbus, Ohio radio station 99.7 The Blitz.
They released their second album, A Goodbye Written in Blood, in 2007 but have wasted no time in writing new material for a third album that is planned on being released in 2008. Every new song is heavier and better than any song before plus now adding more melodic tones that complement the brutality of the breakdowns. Sourblood has shown no signs of slowing down and continues to charge full steam ahead into what is shaping up to be a very bright future.
To sum up Sourblood in simple phrases; the music, brutal; the lyrics, truthful and the stage show, amazing!
