John Schwab Recording Studio offers a special blend of modern technology and rustic comfort, making it one of the most popular studios in the central Ohio area. Whether you play rock or jazz, country or metal, we are uniquely qualified to help you best capture "that sound" on your next project.
Founded in 1991 by John Schwab (of McGuffey Lane fame), the studio has been host to a variety of local, regional, and national artists (such as Gavin Degraw, Styx, Ted Nugent, Kiss and Neil Zaza). From the Estonia grand piano to the large selection of classic microphones, these bands have access to some of the finest equipment available between Chicago and New York City.
In the control room of Studio A sits a handmade Raindirk LN2 console (one of only six like it in the country) that features an incredibly low noise floor. The studio pre-amps were taken from a console used at the BBC studios in London. In addition to this great console Studio A also contains a multitude of preamps, compressors and other outboard gear from Avalon, Universal Audio, Manley, Presonus, Urei and many more. The studio also makes use of a Pro Tools HD system and 2 inch, 24 Track analog tape machine. Five separate isolation rooms are available. And the main studio offers a rich, warm sound that is equally suited for a band trying to capture that studio gloss or one that is going for a big "live" sound.
Studio B, is perfect for artists on a tight budget who want to make a great recording. At the heart of the studio is a Pro Tools MIX system and quality preamps. The studio a full Pro Tools TDM system. Studio B offers and intimate work environment for artists to relax and focus on their project.
All this is found in the peaceful middle of nowhere, on the outskirts of Columbus' southeast side. Situated on 15 acres of wooded land with a creek running behind the studio, the location allows musicians to concentrate on their project, away from distractions. Large windows in the studio allow for plenty of natural light while the wood paneling, high ceiling, and stone fireplace make for a relaxed atmosphere.
With its accommodating and knowledgeable staff, high-tech equipment, and comfortable setting, John Schwab Recording is the place for the discerning musician.
