My Interests

Music:

Band Website: michaelsayers.com/
Band Members: Michael Sayers, and the cohorts and aides de camp thereof.
Influences: Ervin Nyiregyhazi, Ferruccio Busoni, Hector Berlioz, Anton Schindler, Alexander Siloti, Ferenc Liszt, Josef Hofmann, Emil von Sauer, Ludwig von Beethoven, Vladimir de Pachmann, Ignace Jan Paderewski, Eugen d'Albert, Frederic Chopin, Anton Bruckner, Raymond Lewenthal, Nadia Boulanger, Theodore Leschetizky, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ignaz Friedmann, Emile Blanchet, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Theodore Szanto and Anton Rubinstein.
Sounds Like: Emphasis on maximal sonorities, and maximal extension of melodic lines and phrases through appropriate tempos and freelyconceived time expansion-creation-retention.
"You are an incredibly original musician and pianist. Only in Ervin Nyiregyhazi have I heard this kind of playing, and while you don't have his demonic vehemence, you have an aural imagination second to none...The sound you produce is fascinating at all levels of dynamic...What is also fascinating is how you are able to maintain control over such huge spans of time. This in itself justifies your tempos. In the Chopin C Minor prelude, I don't believe anyone has ever played the piece with such color and understanding of its internal nature...The chords in the Brahms are stupendous...Clearly you listen in a wonderfully creative way."

pianist David Edward Smith

Greetings, For some of you this may be of at least casual interest, especially as rediscoveries of "forgotten" great pianists are rare.  His playing seems to be a direct link to the "golden age" ...
