Annamaria Diroma at the age of eleven began to study the flute at the “N. Piccinni” Music University and earned her diploma in 1995. While still a student, she was selected to play as soloist with the University Orchestra in Ortona, Latiano, Durazzo and Tirana. After the Music University, she specialized with M. Conti, M. De Bost, A. Morini, M. Larrieu, G. Mugnuolo, S. Vella and R. Fabbriciani who granted her a scholarship for merit. Since 1992, she has performed with various ensembles (two flutes and English horn, flute and piano, flute and string trio/quartet, flute and harp, flute and guitar, flute violin and harp, and so on). She has also performed for various town councils and for many cultural and musical associations (Bari, Taranto, Trapani, Gabicce, Monopoli, S. Marcello, Lanciano, Rimini, Rossano, Roma, Arenzano, Siena, Potenza, Viterbo). She has also been invited to national and international festivals: Fédération Internationale Maisons de l’Europe, 1995, 1998 – Monopoli; F.A.I., Fondo per l’ambiente italiano, 1995, 1996 – Bari; Festa della Musica, 1997 – Bari; Festa dei Poeti, 1997 – Bari; Festival delle Nazioni, 2000 - Città di Castello. During this last Festival she played and recorded an unpublished piece by S. Sciarrino live for the first time. In a duet with piano she exhibited in Teatro Paulo Quintela di Coimbra in Portugal (Associaçao Academica de Coimbra) and as a soloist she collaborated with the Orchestra Mediterranea of Monopoli, the Orchestra Sinfonica della Provincia of Bari, the Orchestra Sinfonica Internazionale Giovanile “F. Fenaroli” of Lanciano and with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra of Toronto. She has taken part in different national and european competitions always obtaining prizes (“Città di Grottole”, 1994 and “Città di Monopoli”, 1997- first prize in chamber music section, “Città di Cento”, 1999 - third prize in Chamber Music of XX century, and so on). She has always been interested in teaching children music. For this reason, in 2000 she earned a Degree in Music Teaching at “N. Piccinni” Music University and, in the same year, she obtained a teaching certificate for nursery and elementary school through a public competitive exam. Moreover, she specialized in several different methods such as Orff (Bari 1999 and 2001, Rome 2000, 2001 and 2002), Dalcroize (Marsala 1999) and Kodaly (Roma 2000). In 2004 she took part in the National Class of Training «Child’s musical education from birth to six years in accordance with Music Learning Theory of Edwin E. Gordon» which was organised in Rome by Aigam (the only Italian Gordon Association for Music Learning). At the end of the class she became a Recognized and Associated Teacher and currently she teaches Musicainfasce® classes in many nursery schools in Rome. In 2006 she earned a Degree from the DAMS Department (Disciplines of Arts, Music and Drama) at Bologna University with a thesis in Music Pedagogy. She taught in music workshops for teachers of nursery and primary schools for Musica Nova (music and cultural association of Rome) in 2003 and in 2005 and for Uisp (sport association of Rome) in 2003 and in 2005. Since 1996, she has been teaching flute in secondary schools with music sections and currently she teach in I.C. of Campagnano di Roma. At the moment, she is specializing in General Music (Formal Instruction) in accordance with Music Learning Theory of Edwin E. Gordon by Aigam of Rome.
