What to tell about me, im a 35 year old girl..who likes to make loads of fun. Im a professional cellist and pedagogue / educator in music and art.
I always say im a 36 year old stuck in her mid twenties and it feels like that all the time. I try to play music as much as i can, but since im not able to always..i listen to music as much as i can.
My teachers were great cellists like Michel Roche (Utrecht Conservatory, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra) Ceacilia van Hoof (The Hague Philharmonic), Maria Starke (The Hague Philharmonic) Lucia Swarts (Royal Conservatory The Hague, Schönberg Ensemble, the ASKO Ensemble and the Amsterdam Bach Soloists and the Netherlands Bach Association Baroque Orchestra).
After my degree in music and cello at the Royal conservatory of The Hague, i started working as a educational manager with the The Hague Philharmonics. And after that i started doing about the same at the <
Philipshall / Lucent Danstheatre in The Hague.
I try to play as much cello as i can in chamber ensembles, orchestras and recently with the Progressive Myth Rock formation
Kingfisher Sky . With this great band i started a journey and as a guest band member to play with them on occasion. It's one of the most interesting and forfilling dreams that came trough during the last few years. But since we all loved that journey, i've stayed with Kingfisher Sky and we make great music all togehter.

If i have to say which person i would like to meet if that was possible..that would be Jacqueline du Pré. This beautifull woman has been a great inspiration to the way i play! I only can hope that i have a fraction of her talent. Jacqueline du Pré 1945-1987
Schwalko
A short Animation about Identity, Fate and Destiny.
I consider my work like a roleplay. Every person exists due different layers, exists out of different elements. In each and everyone of us hides a perpetrator, but at the same time a victim. People have the tendency to judge others in a flash of a second, looking superficially at the world and the way other people act.
I'm creating images which look quite common at first sight, like an everyday scene. With a closer look, the common is actually far from common and there's allways more than beats the eye. To make people look and get their attention, you have to surprise them, especially in our time where we are bombarded continualsly with all sorts of information. It's not only the alienative functionality of the picture I find important. The sublayers, thats what it's all about, the alienation is nothing more than the surface where under a total new reality hides. In the end it's the representation of human tragedy that manifests itself in my work...

Pass me the Salt... (mag ik het zout....)
Short Art Film about growing up in silent anger
Façades and identity
Richard Hilgeman researches through his art the idea of identity and doubling personalities. By bringing on characters and Alter Egos he deals, recording to himself, with the world he sees as untrue, superficial and sensational without content. Where keeping up appearances are mostly pulled beyond truth, but we are also living in a world where keeping up apparances are the more ideal of that truth. This conscious human tragic is relativated in Richard Hilgemans humor and representation of images. Richard Hilgeman puts his work and Alter Ego's not between him and the world, but are a recognition and a translation of himself in that world. He places himself with that everywhere and nowhere, doubled and manipulated the picture from vulnerability and expectation. He takes, as a chameleon, every identity on him. And creates his own personal arena, in wich he wresles the world and himself.
