Rick Heiman is a Choreographer Member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), a professional union; a member of the Professional Dancers Society, an affiliate of the Actors Fund America; and an Associate Member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC), a professional union.
A musically driven choreographer, inspired by the spirit of the music to create the movement and the movement phrase, and guided by the structure of the music in creating the finished composition, Rick and dancers have performed in Walnut Creek, Berkeley, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Marin County, at the Centre des Conventions of the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, in Colorado, San Jose, and Hollywood, and most recently at the Los Angeles Convention Center.Rick has also performed at the Evening of Experimental Middle Eastern Dance in Venice and the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, throughout California, in Salt Lake City, Utah and Albuquerque, New Mexico; in Louisville, Kentucky and Birmingham, Alabama; at the Oriental Dance Festival of Finland aboard the Silja Europa on the Baltic Sea, and in England and Scotland.
2007 and Beyond
Rick is currently choreographing new dance for Hollywood Ballet, and preparing for auditions for Hollywood Dance Company, as well as scheduling new classes in Hollywood Jazz Dance and the Hollywood Dance Workout. Works recently completed include a Limon-styled duet set to Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor; a fusion composition set to the "Ballet Music" from Aida; and a modern ballet dance set to Haunted Palace by UK musicians Ben Golomstock, KatieJane Garside, and friends (this dance will become part of a music video to be produced by Ben later in 2007). Hollywood Ballet is currently rehearsing a fast lyrical jazz dance set to The Magdalen Chicago based Arcanta, and Rick is also choreographing The Music Man for the Southeast Civic Light Opera.
In addition to his busy schedule of teaching and choreographing, Rick and dancers are available for theatrical engagements, opera dance and choreography, commercial work, dance workshops in jazz, modern, and belly dance, and dance residencies.
