About Me

COMING SOON!!
The artistic team behind Scottish Ballet's Cinderella and The Nutcracker presents The Sleeping Beauty, sponsored by Bank of Scotland, who have supported Scottish Ballet for over 20 years. In true Scottish Ballet style, this will be a unique take on a classic fairytale, transforming it into ballet as you have never seen it before. You can expect breathtaking choreography, stunning sets and dazzling cotumes, set to Tchaikovsky's enchanting score!
Princess Aurora is born into a magical world where mortals mix with the fairies of the enchanted forest at the royal baby’s christening. A jealous fairy fallen from grace casts a horrific curse which means that Aurora will, on her 16th birthday, prick her finger and die, and while The Lilac Fairy saves the innocent child by softening the curse, Aurora falls into an enchanted hundred year slumber from which she cannot be woken by anything less than the kiss of her true love.
This spellbinding new production opens in Glasgow 11 December, then touring to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness in January and February. For full dates, see our calendar.
Keep checking our page for more info, and see below for a peek at rehearsals! For a behind the scenes insight, check out this article in The Scotsman . We will be uploading a new Sleeping Beauty photograph to our Flickr page every day, from rehearsal pics, costume fittings and sneak peeks behind the scenes at Scottish Ballet HQ - the link to our page is below. Prepare to be enchanted!

ABOUT SCOTTISH BALLET Scottish Ballet is Scotland's National Dance Company, run under the award-winning direction of Ashley Page OBE. With classical influences meeting modern dance styles, the Company presents a wide range of high-quality dance to audiences across Scotland, the UK and abroad. Scottish Ballet has a diverse, vibrant repertoire, ranging from new versions of the classics (The Nutcracker, Cinderella), through to seminal pieces from 20th century modern ballet repertoire, including work by George Balanchine and Frederick Ashton, and extending into signature pieces by living choreographers such as William Forsythe, Hans van Manen and Siobhan Davies. The Company is also keen to explore new pieces and regularly premieres work in Scotland. Scottish Ballet believes in pushing the boundaries of dance, with recent productions breaking away from the traditional image of ballet by using music from contemporary artists including Aphex Twin and Nine Inch Nails.
