Currently choreographing furiously for
Southern California Dancers!
After kicking off 2008 with Hollywood Ballet performances at Unknown Theater in Hollywood, Rick's choreography for Hollywood Ballet dancers and guests was featured in the Easter Sunrise Service at the Hollywood Bowl. Then, a dance choreographed by Rick for a former New York City Ballet dancer was featured in DanceSpot, LA's premier showcase for new concert dance works. The first weekend of April, Several of his dances were featured in Tujunga Cabaret- Studio City Dances! at Two Roads Theater in Studio City. Later in April, Rick joined the judge's panel in Sacramento for Headliners Dance Competition, awarding the silvers and golds for one of America's most illustrious dance comps.
Rick performed solo the last weekend of April at Amon Ra in West Hollywood. His choreography for Respirer, a duet set to Sieur de Sainte-Colombe's Tears, goes on stage at LA's Studio One the evenings of May 10th and 11th. Rick is currently creating new modern jazz choreography for Southern California Dance Company, set to Jellicle Ball from the musical Cats (preview performance May 17th at Encore High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Hesperia. This dance and more will be performed in toto in Fall 2008.
Rick is also creating new and revised choreography for the ongoing Requiem 21 project, dances set to Mozart's Requiem, to be premiered August 23rd at the Hermosa Playhouse in Hermosa Beach.
This summer Rick will assume the duties of Ballet Director at Encore High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Soutnern California's new performing arts high school, opening August 8th. Rick is also preparing to co-produce and choreograph for Hollywood Musical Theater, a series of musical theater dance revues in Hollywood and LA area venues. Rick is a member of America's unions for professional choreographers: the American Guild of Musical Artists (ballet and opera) and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (Broadway, Off-Broadway, LORT, COST, college and university theaters, etc.). He is a member of the Professional Dancers Society, affiliated with Actors' Fund America. He is also a member of MENSA, the American Musicological Society, and the Rachmaninoff Society.
