Bamboopera Flexible Theatre.
This new project of Pi Keohavong
takes its inspiration from
the bamboo(plant of his original country,Laos).
Its fluent flexibility united
with its strength(as a dancer's body) and the idea
of opera(an elegant and powerful mix between dance,music,acting and video-art).
Pi Keohavong is the Artistic Director.
Dancer and choreographer started his
professional
career in 1995-1996 dancing with
The Erick Hawkins Dance Company(NYC),
working for Chen and Dancers(NYC)
in 1996-1997 and then from 1997-2004
touring with MOMIX. He really believes
that the energy that is flowing in
everyone's body, in everyone's cells
must flow with the others.
That is the magic of putting together
artists form different realities,d
ifferent experiences, different Chi.
The office-studio of Bamboopera is
actually at Pi and Silvia's home.
They are sure that the warmth and comfort
of a home, where the artists can come
and don't feel as a guest, but really
be a part of it, can create the right atmosphere
to work together. The place is close to Udine,Italy
in a small old village in the country called
Sclaunicco Di Lestizza, a paradise where
they could feel welcome from the first day.
They really hope to let this project grow
and bring artists to this area.
Their dream is to transform their home
and their village into a Cultural Center
where organize meeting and workshops for different disciplines ( dance,music,photography...etc)
and cultivate and pass on the experiences to
new generation.They are actually working on their own dance rep and collaborating with two local talented young musicians
( Giovanni Bresil and Ivan Susilovic) writing lyrics
