Hello !

"The music expresses, which cannot be said and about what to be silent is impossible." - Victor Hugo (1802-85)
In May of 1962 I was born in Aken on Elbe as the son of a Teacher and a saleswoman. As a child I was initiated to the world of music by my accordion playing father and the permanent whistling of my mother. I found my first guitar in my father’s closet and after some unsuccessful plains to play it, I put it back to where I found it. When I was six years old I delighted my classmates’ parents by playing a black recorder. My breakthrough was at the Christmas party of my father’s school where I performed as a singer. Five years later – I was 13 years old by then – I got a new guitar for my birthday and tried once again to learn how to play it on my own. But somehow it didn’t work that way so I came to a guitar – and vocal teacher. After my 14th birthday the moving activities of my parents (Aken – Magdeburg – Seehausen - Rathenow) ended temporarily and I took first steps as a singer and DJ. At the end of the 10th class some powerful people minded me graduating with an Abitur (German school leaving examination) and I was forced to be trained to be a machines – and installations fitter. At this time I wrote my first songs in German which I did not withhold from the audience. As a consequence of that I was withdrawn my federal performing Permission and wasn’t allowed to perform in public anymore. After a short break I took part in a songwriter workshop in Ludwigsfelde and got a performing permission as a “peoples’ artist†(10 East-Mark per performance).I was allowed to perform again. In 1980 I became the manager of a bluesrockband called “Motor Z†and also performed my own songs as well as some modified songs by Dylan, Young and Marius Müller Westernhagen. We appeared on festivals and performed with bands such as Keimzeit, Pasch and Jürgen Kerth. With a new performing permission I was able to be a DJ again an started a duo – program with the drummer and guitar player Andres Wetzel. Due to my refusal of military service and my whole “artistic work†my “friends†from the GDR – administration decided to let me move to Western Berlin in February of 1989. There I had to earn my money with “real work†and worked temporarily as a shift leader in an tectonics firm. At the same time I was member of a country band. Additionally, I worked on an own solo program with own songs. In the summer of 1990 I performed with my old band in Brandenburg. After that my solo program was completed by the help of my friend and musician Andreas Wetzel. We founded the band “The Last Patients†and recorded 12 songs within a weekend in the Trix – Studio Berlin. Then we towered through Berlin and Brandenburg. But a chronic lack of money caused the break of the band and I resigned as a gardener, as a social worker, leader of a school club, employee at an education firm and as the founder and operator of an employment agency – without live music.I knew that I could not live that way for long. But I also realized that I was not able to write new songs. This changed in 2004. I built a small “Home – Recording – Studio†and creativity came back. Now, I’ve got enough material for several albums and the music cries for publication.A little expert of my “creativity activity†is on my own production “Mittendrin†(In The Middleâ€).I wanted to know if I was still able to give a 2 – hour solo concert, playing only own songs without a break and without boring the audience, so I took the invitation to the 775th anniversary of the city of Klütz in summer and gave to concerts. I was very successful. The first concert took place on the big festival stage and the second one took place in the smaller yard of the local town club. The result was: “I still can and just have to do itâ€.To me, the most impressive experience from these concerts was that the audience was very mixed. The age of my listeners was from 15 up to 75 years. A lot of them went to the second concerts after then were at the first once and they even sang a few songs aloud, after they had heard them only once (“Papst†(“Popeâ€)/ “Ich warte†(“I waitâ€)/â€Dr. E. Schmitzâ€).
