Frankie's new album is released through JERKIN CROCUS RECORDS.
Jerkin' Crocus proudly announce the release of the new Frankie Miller album - Long Way Home. Lovingly packaged in a Japanese style gatefold card sleeve and pressed on replica vinyl cd's, the album is due for release on February 27th 2006.
Music fans should need no introduction to Frankie Miller the man described by Rod Stewart as, the greatest white singer ever, but for the uninitiated, heres a brief synopsis. Frankie recorded nine chart albums for the Chrysalis and Mercury labels between 1972 - 1986 which yielded between them the hit singles, Be Good To Yourself and Darlin. He is one of the legends of the British music scene, with a powerful voice that has drawn numerous comparisons. His distinctive voice and song writing ability have earned him the respect of his peers and that is reflected in the number of world renowned artists, including Rod Stewart, Bob Seger, Roy Orbison, Joe Cocker, Etta James,The Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Delbert McClinton, Bellamy Bros and the great Ray Charles, who are among the huge array of artists who have covered his songs.
Here at long last, is an album of previously unreleased material recorded in the 1990s. The album showcases Frankies legendary vocal talents as well as focusing on Frankie the songwriter. One number, You're The Star has already been a 1995 hit single for Rod Stewart.
The album features appearances from, amongst others, Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Nicky Hopkins (The Jeff Beck Group) and Ian Wallace (King Crimson / Bob Dylan), who alongside Chrissie Stewart made up the band Fire And Brimstone.
The numbers included here from this line up include the much sought after Guilty Of The Crime. Co-writers on the album include Will Jennings (Eric Clapton / Celine Dion) and Jerry Lynn Williams (Eric Clapton). Frankie the interpreter is highlighted on the albums two cover versions, The Rose the song made famous by Bette Midler in the film of the same name and Hell Have To Go previously immortalised by country legend Jim Reeves.
LONG WAY HOME cuts a path from acoustic ballads to out and out rockers via country and soul tinged tracks, encapsulating Frankies wide variety of musical styles.
