I come from the tiny village Hagvåg, which is located on the largest of the Lofoten islands called Vestvågøy
Lofoten is situated above the Arctic circle which means that the sun will never set in summer, and never rise in the darkest winter time. This has for me been the perfect starting place for my songwriting
I got a keyboard from my parents when I was 10, it was a Casio and still to this day the best present someone has ever given me. Not so sure my parents would agree, since they gave me headphones a week later
Have yet to finish the first song I started to write. I got to the first chorus and just left it there cause it was in fact a really bad song and I didn’t know what to do with it
Wrote my song Slippery ground on the train somewhere between Lillehammer and Trondheim in May 2005. A song that has come to have great meaning to me, about how to get by no matter if the ground under you is firm or slippery. It is all depending on the shoes you choose to wear
Write the most part of my songs between 00.00 and 03.00 at night. This combined with going to work early in the morning means I’ve been tired a lot
My preferred time for songwriting is during the polar night, for Norwegians known as mørketid, directly translated to the "dark time" in English. For those who believe we are left in total darkness this is not so, as the dark period is the perfect time to see the spectacle of the northern lights that we call "nordlys"
Did my first recordings at my friend Tom's house during the summer some years ago. We mainly recorded vocals using a simple microphone and the Garageband on his Mac
Recorded my first demos at a professional studio in Oslo six months later, which took my music and my wanting to create more of it to a whole new level
I then made this Myspace page, about two years ago, not really knowing if anyone would even want to come and listen. Since then I have daily been surprised and warmed by the feedback and encouraging words from so many wonderful people. It is so much thanks to all of you that I got the confidence and determination to continue
So thanks to all of you for stopping by, having a listen, leaving a comment or just looking at the northern lights, which I hope you will all get to see if you haven’t already. As for what comes next little is certain, but it’s been a great journey coming this far
