"...In the horizon of the infinite. We have left the land and have embarked! Oh, the poor bird that felt free and now strikes the walls of this cage! Woe, when you feel homesick for the land as if it had offered more freedom and there is no longer any land"! F.N.

BIOGRAPHY - THOMAS WISSING
We live in a time of been there, done that cynicism, when nothing impresses us, and artists try too hard to be original, or at the very least come up with something everybody will like. Thomas Wissing, whose songs are fresh and startlingly original , doesn't have to buy into any of that. He doesn't need to invent some esoteric hybrid or fashion a style.
Wissing, born and raised in Westphalia,Germany, pours out his soul in English working a panoramic blend of roots-Americana rock and brilliantly produced rhythms. His earnest blend of acoustic and electric guitars, thoughtful lyrics, and vocal gymnastics draws from the Memphis sounds of Sun Studios. The surprise chesnut at the heart of the music is the dynamic, fiery delivery of Wissing himself, whose voice is by turns deep and commanding, feather-light and breezy, and as rich and sensual as dark-chocalate fondue. His songs are stylistically fearless and the soundscapes he creates are so textured that they transcend multiple genres. In every song he composes, Wissing makes it difficult to discern where tradition ends and modernity begins -- the indelible mark of truly progressive artistry.
Wissing's music encompasses a musical journey in the truest sense, while his substance and versatility stand in dark contrast to today's fashion-show mainstream pop.
His style exemplifies the meaning of „world music“, combining a potpouri of sounds from disparate elements to create a mystically poetic stew. It is grounded in the complex rock rhythms he creates by the multi-tasking efforts of producing and playing all of the instruments himself.
After the debut CD Home and his second CD Hope, his latest recording, „Leave That Window Open“, completes the trifecta of a brilliant mosaic of authenticity, personality and artistry.
After building buzz, Wissing has toured in support of his recordings in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, and the U.S.A. His live performances are intimate and personal, yet the songs are majestic and massive that one could see him filling small clubs or large arenas. Add to that his, well, striking image, and you have the complete package: artist, entertainer, visionary.
Beatle Bob
With his haunting and seductively resonant voice, his trusty guitar, and a heart full of songs, Thomas Wissing has embarked on a journey to share his multifaceted musicianship with the world. With his powerful baritone and percussive guitar methods, he generates a sound that is basic, distinctive, and pure.
Thomas’ musical endeavor began when he was 11 years old, with his first drumset. Drumming did not remain merely a hobby for this disciplined musician. He became a schooled drummer, and eventually secured his position as drummer in various bands. Thomas did not lock himself into playing only one instrument in only one genre of music: “I learned to play Guitar, Piano and other Instruments on my own. I started with Metal, but I like every kind of music as long as it has ‘soul’.”
He continued to cultivate his musical talents, feeding on a wide range of influences, including Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Danzig, Ben Harper, and many more. Today, through the amalgamation of Blues, Folk, Rock, and multiple other genres, Thomas Wissing is indulging his listeners with a utopian array of rhythmical selections, able to satisfy just about anyone’s taste in music. It all qualifies as blues music to some degree. A new melancholy blue.
Whether you are drawn in by his passionate lyrics or captivating voice, you are sure to find yourself quickly addicted and yearning for more!
In a small village in the region of Westphalia, Germany, Thomas was raised by his father, a salesman by trade who loved the music of Ray Charles, and his mother, a physician’s assistant who preferred folk songs and chansons.
Thomas has spent a great deal of his life in the elderly hospice environment and has witnessed with his own eyes the suffering and demise of the human frame over time. He would often entertain the dying with folk songs as they awaited company, or even their last breath. No stranger to misfortune herself, his mother prepared him to engage this kind of suffering head-on. His father may have inadvertently taught him to sell it as sad fact onstage through his style of music.
When asked what his single most top musical aspiration is, Thomas replied: "To write the One song." Surely, he won’t stop there.
In addition to being an exceptional lyricist and performer, Thomas is a schooled philosopher and political scientist.
