the choir is like the earth - return and arise!

About Me

The music you are hearing is part of a larger project going on for years.
It involves 100's of people and a lot of spirit.
This can be experienced in full complexity and simplicity - visually and though sound with:

one man band:

- trained as violinist, musicologist and conductor
- active member of choirs in Cph for 20 years - leader of choirs and ensembles
- arranger and composer of bandmusic, musical, afromusic and vocaljazz-rock 1985-1995
- composer of vocal and instrumental music since 1987
- member of Vesterbro Composers Group KOMVEST since 1999

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: mellemsteetage.dk
Band Members: the floating project:

the members of my band is the people I am working with, depending on what the forthcoming project will be - mainly members of Vesterbro Composers Group
KOMVEST
(check the site with the english text version and tons of music!) and a bunch of talented and dedicated singes from various choirs in copenhagen
Been working with organ players, string players and solo singers, orchestras and percussionists - and poets

Influences: heart and brain:

my musical influence is all music that reaches my heart and my body - the brain is good for understanding, what hits you afterwards ...

sound and structure:

so writing score music is not mainly about finding a sound, but recognizing and forming a structure - the sound will be there, when you find it. Yet I would say, that before structure, there is a "sound image", a sounding vision. Even before that, if we are talking about vocal music, is the reading and feeling the words creating this sound vision.

The creative process is an allmost divine experience - you have the opportunity and privilege to create out of nowhere - you are God for a moment, you have borrowed the control room, and you must return it in good shape when the time comes. Meanwhile let's have some serious fun !

vocal:

my influence is the best vocal music ever written, in a time when the human voice was the ideal instrument and therefore well known and well treated by the composers.

who's laughing ?

To laugh is a human phenomenon - or is it? Animals don't laugh as far as I know, but what about God? If you ask me, I say 'yes! Humour is definitely a divine phenomenon, so now we have a contradict...

religious abuse

I would say the world right now is filled with religious abuse (we all know the word sexual abuse...). Talking about God should be talking about an entity of grace, love, being, conciousness, freedom ...
