Hello!Just a quick update really - I seem to have converted over to facebook (under the name Marion Fleetwood) which is a shame really so I'm going to really try to do more on Myspace again.Lots of things happening, and all is well.Al and I are writing a film soundtrack - very exciting and a new avenue really, which is nice. We also had a great gig as a duo at Rugby Roots - thanks for that Richard - supporting Dan Cassidy (Eva's brother) who was possibly the mellowest bloke I've ever met - and a fantastic jazz violinist. Mmm. Nice.I'm doing a course on delivering music within the youth justice system and meeting some really lovely people on that - I've even had a go at DJ'ing. I was predictably crap at it, but it was real fun.CQ is still a blast - so enjoying working with the guys. Some extremely gtarifying gigs last year, and some lovely ones coming up.Love to everyone.
Hi and welcome!
Marion Fleetwood sings and plays violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar and mandolin in various bands, works as a session musician in the Midlands and sings jazz and folk.
She plays a BRIDGE INSTRUMENTS electric acoustic violin (see friends link below) which they kindly made for her after she moaned that she wanted her electric fiddle to look like a 'proper violin', and also has an endorsement from Faith Guitars. She is very lucky to have the use of some beautiful instruments. Thanks!
She trained classically, and started to play folk in her teens. After a quick intro to jazz singing at UCL she experimented with solo work and joined various combo's - and after much meandering, settled into the folk world with the Midlands based folk-rock band, Meet on the Ledge, playing nationwide and internationally, and notably at Cropredy Festival (Fairport Convention) and Symphony Hall Birmingham.
She now plays principally with ColvinQuarmby and with her long term musical buddy Allen Maslen, with jazz engagements in the Midlands.
There are various future projects in the pipeline - including a solo album and some exciting collaborations. Watch this space!
