All art is propaganda....W.E.B. du Bois

About Me

I am a freelance writer, editor and publicist of mixed heritage(African-American,Bajan,Native,Hungarian).
My latest project is a full length play, based on a Jim Crow/Civil Rights timeline. It is slated to be produced in the near future in the Pittsburgh PA region - it is my first play, and I am thrilled about this opportunity to explore a different genre!
I also represent poet/journalist Marcie Eanes of Wisconsin among other clients.
In addition to some of my other freelance projects, I have recently joined forces with the talented music industry specialist and journalist /Renaissance woman par excellence, Lyric LaCelie; between us are about 30 years of industry, press, writing experience or some combination thereof from the East Coast to Hollywood!
Together we are promoting independent artists from the UK and beyond from her main site"I Am The Real Lyric"(located on my front page)and the UK Featured Artists Site(myspace.com/lyricuk)from which selected artists are featured and heavily promoted to our arsenal of contacts for two weeks!
Please visit our respective website to learn more- always looking for new talent( we work for results, be they more press, record co.interviews,or whatever)- drop us a line!
Join us now in LYRIC/AMY U.K. Featured Artists Studio!
I am also a board member of Media Tank, a media reform/justice literacy organization based in Philadelphia, dedicated to public education about how the media works and how we can take back ownership, and best use and improve it to promote and sustain the issues and causes that really matter in this world.
Beyond comparison - The Duke of Ellington

Mahalia Jackson.... God Will Take Care of You

My Interests

Civic and political discourse, non-fiction and poetry, walking, traveling, writing and helping others-despite my serious pursuits, I have a strong sense of humor and like to laugh with others who have the same!

I'd like to meet:

Other writers, editors, poets, music enthusiasts, jazz, classical, world and progressive rock in particular- dog,cat and bird lovers, and people who are civically engaged with the world- change agents, not whiners!

Jon Anderson - "Sooner" ( written in collaboration with my awesome friend John Young!)

I LOVE puffins!

We Are The Ones

Take a look at the men who are supporting Obama!

Music:

Favorite artists include: Stevie Wonder, and so many others that I would hve to change this profile section twice a day- so let's leave it at that! :) I can ,however, say that the genres I enjoy most are: jazz, classic and progressive rock, classical, world and folk - all the music that surrounded me in my childhood, basically! :)

Movies:

If any, they are likely to be classics from the 40's to early 70's, with a few more recent thrown in, but they arent really a passion of mine...I enjoy live theater better....

Television:

C-Span!!!!!!!!!!!

Books:

Biographies,non-fiction,poetry and self improvement books for the most part....My favorite poets are Langston Hughes,Robert Frost, Keats,Wordsworth, and basically all the Harlem Renaissance artists and musicians

Heroes:

All my ancestors and elders who survived the Middle Passage, slavery,Jim Crow and tyranny in Eastern Europe,my mother, my three children and my grandson, Martin and Coretta Scott King, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Jimmy Carter, James Baldwin, and my late father, who picked up his first picket sign at age 12
