About Me

The Grand Canal at Night, Venice
I am a professional writer and am published in Classic Style Magazine.
Message me for professional inquiries.
I have been affected by everything I have seen, every place I have been, everyone I have ever known and loved, and every memory I have cherished. I will never forget falling asleep on the rail nearly under he Arch of Septimius Severus in the Roman Forum watching a bat hunting insects in front of a full moon. I had Bellinis in Harry's Bar at San Marco and was accosted by a dark shape in a mask and a tricorn hat on the way back to my pensione. I climbed the Ravene in Matera where ancient churches are carved out of the caves and watched the sun setting from the ancient walls of Sassi. I have been in love in Leicester Square, but only for a moment, with a young woman I met on the Tube. I've climbed the Flat Irons in Boulder, and up in Eldorado. I have ice climbed in NH in air so cold it crystalized. I have seen a jaguar in the wild in Belize, big horned sheep in Colorado, and an osprey in the Everglades. I feel so blessed for all I have experienced.
I've held hands with someone in Paris and did bad Gene Kelly impersonations as we were soaked along The Seine. I loved her then and I love her now, though she will be forever lost to me.
There was a girl on the train station in New York City. The weight of her kiss lingered on my lips as the train pulled away. I’ve never seen eyes so resonate with the beauty and depth of a warm and rapturous heart, and it was into those eyes I gazed as that train was pulling away with something akin to sad resignation. With the right person, you can live an entire lifetime in a few days and revisit there when you wish.
Love In Nice.
The world never ceases to amaze me with its wonderful possibilities. I have had wonderful successes and heartbreaking tragedies, but through it all I knew who I was, I grew from it, and I was proud of the choices I have made. I was always able to rely on my core values: honor, duty, loyalty, and love.
You have to allow the world to affect you, though sometimes the world cuts deep. No matter what happens, you are better off with your heart open and receptive.
Night of the Soul -Notre Dame at 4 AM.
There are good people in the world. Find them; surround yourself in them. If you do good things in the world, then the good people will find you. Establishing deep and honest connections with others is one of the best joys in life; that, and developing your character. You must refine and strengthen your character and you need to know who you are. There is a utility to character, and when you need to rely on it as a defense against travesty, you had better not come up empty.
I hope to be a better man tomorrow; a better friend, a better supporter, a better source of strength for those I care about. I will love deeper and learn more as I progress down the path with my beloved.
Doing What I Do, Along the Promenade de Anglais, Nice.
I help moderate a message board known as The Fedora Lounge. My screen name is "Hemingway Jones." I dress vintage for swing dance events (I am learning!), Fedora Lounge events, and for some photos.
I have been fortunate enough to see many places in the world, but I have never found a place that surpasses my adoptive city, Boston, the Athens of America, Oliver Wendell Holmes' "Hub of the" Universe. This is my city and I belong here and feel at home here as no where else.
Here's to Boston, sweet, sweet Boston, the city that affords all the possibilities of life.

The Vatican Museum
The Louvre
I hope to always remain a student of the world, humbled at the enormous possibilities inherent in each moment.

Aren't we all on a hero's journey? Have you read "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" or "The Power of Myth" by Joseph Campbell? If you haven't, I highly recommend them. There are paradigms in these stories, a path that makes a hero a hero, and within that journey is the key to self-actualization.

Understanding your own journey; who you are and where you are, is to know your role in life, your place in society, and where you are heading.
