About Me

Everything I know now, I knew at 19. It just took me all this time to comprehend what I knew. It's like listening to Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," the one she recorded when she was 18 or 19 and the one she recorded in 2000 (or 2001). The first one is a beautiful inspiration and I doubt she fully understood what she wrote. This last one is another matter. It makes me cry. She put in the time; now she knows.

Between then and now, some learning has become refined like: life is messy and you aren't going to fix it. You'll never get caught up. Loving someone doesn't change them; the love created between you does. There is no substitute for spending time in the flesh with those you care about. Being right is empty; being in conversation is not. God is in the ordinary things. Fear is not of God.

Abiding is one of my favorite words.
