A chance meeting at the front of a massive Aussie festival crowd has lead to this breakbeat collaboration of endless potential. Both with backgrounds in classical instrumentation & electronic production, and possessing an uncannily similar musical pedigree, the decision for Ryan Dickinson and Ollie Bowler to begin collaborating on tunes came easily. Ryan was djing as The Score holding down residencies at the Family and The Empire in Brisbane, whilst ollie was cutting his teeth mixing at the Moon bar and having some success on Triple J radio with his earlier productions.
Their first production under the moniker the Score vs. ollie b entitled 'Slipping Through' saw dancefloor support from both local and London based djs, causing a stir on dj charts and internet radio stations. Their remix of Gorillaz Feel Good Inc followed, and immediately went to the top of IDJ magazines beats and breaks page - receiving a 4/5 star review from breaks godfather Rennie Pilgrem.
Since then the pair have had their next track Groovin (feat. Root Words) signed to Danny Macmillans new London-based 'PACKMusic' label & released nationally on a compilation CD called 'circuit breaker', had their bootleg remix of Underworld/Two Months Off picked up for international release and been commissioned to remix Beta's latest single Come again. This remix sat at the top of the djdownload beats and breaks chart for weeks following its release, seeing support from all corners of the globe and across different genres.
Landing a feature on page 8 of the UK’s ‘Djmag’ in November ‘06, the article titled ‘gotta be big’ propelled them onto the international stage – backed with a Dj mix packed full of their latest productions. They then went on to have their latest tunes picked up for global release across a host of labels around the world including Title Fight, Dead Famous and Erase Records.
Devouring all manner of influences and styles from minimal to big-beat whilst sounding off a funk-fuelled, hip-hop loaded futuristic aural assault, Bitrok handles the future sound of breakbeat with a distinctly Australian touch. A-list support from the likes of Meat Katie, Elite Force, Rennie Pilgrem and General Midi has helped them gather a strong underground following both locally and abroad, creating a blistering momentum aided further by an exciting live show.
