About Me

Johnny Halo a.k.a John Morrow made his name as a member of nineties Drum & Bass outfit Foul Play alongside Steve Bradshaw and Steve Gurley. Initially releasing records in 1992 on their own Oblivion label the trio were soon signed to the now legendary Moving Shadow at the start of 1993. They made an immediate impact releasing the classics 'Open Your Mind' and 'Finest Illusion' and remixing the seminal 'Lords Of The Null-lines' by Hyper-on Experience and 'Renegade Snares' by Omni Trio to create what are now recognized as two of the most important tunes in Drum & Bass history. After the departure of Steve Gurley the remaining duo went on to record their debut album 'Suspected' on Moving Shadow in 1995. The album (one of the first Drum & Bass artist albums alongside Goldie's 'Timeless' and Omni Trio's 'Deepest Cut') gained critical acclaim and cemented their reputation as Drum & Bass pioneers. In 1996 the duo began the next chapter in Foul Play's history with the launch of their own Panik records, a chapter which was to be cut tragically short with the death of Steve to multiple sclerosis in 1997. John continued to produce as 'Foul Play Productions' drafting in long time collaborator Neil Shepherd to make 1999's 'Field Of Action' album on the newly formed Partisan records. This second Foul play L.P was extremely well received gaining 'album of the month' status in several dance music publications. After a break from the studio which ended up lasting almost two years, John became increasingly interested in the newly blossoming Breaks scene which encompassed the anything goes party atmosphere that drew him into making music over a decade earlier, leading to a renewed interest in production and the launch of Cellar Door Recordings in 2004.Now, with the boundaries between different musical genres becoming increasingly blurred, it was only a matter of time before experiments with House and Electro bore fruit, gaining support from an ever growing list of international DJ's.For More Info visit www.cellardoorrecordings.com . . .I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
