About Me
Get your layout at ProfileSteroid.comBorn and raised in the home counties in England, Kieron grew up loving football (specifically Chelsea F.C.) martial arts and music... Now his knees have seen their best years.... mainly thanks to a lot of the first 2 loves quoted above...so he tends to spend most of his time lost in music...A seventies child of U.K. descent, his earliest influences stemmed from Rock and Roll, Mod culture & music (he comes, after all, from Paul Weller's hometown) the soulful sounds of Disco, and the solid groove of funk, mainly thanks to a local mobile dj letting him hang out, and furnishing him with tapes including The Isley Brothers, The Commodores and Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. At the age of 13 Kieron swung into the eighties discovering early electronica thru Harold Faltermeyer’s theme to Beverly Hills cop, Axel F., before venturing into the early Hip Hop sounds of Mantronix, the Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy. Hip Hop then took over, and with it the underground rapping, breakdancing, and graffiti spraying culture, creating a desire for a different musical direction. The Hip Hop battle D.J.’s to first ignite Kieron’s desire to develop turntable skills were names like D.J. Random, D.J. Pogo, and 2 times DMC world champion, Cutmaster Swift. In 1989 Kieron again swayed his path as a result of the massive change to the whole U.K. music scene, with the dawn of the “summer of loveâ€. An enthusiasm for acid house was born, but, however, dedication to the B Boy cause remained strong for another 12 months. Resistance was useless and as a result the newfound hard-edged and uplifting electronic sounds were able to blend with Kieron’s utilisation of Hip Hop breakbeats. An open mind and an energetic soul led to a swift and fulfilling introduction to the happy hardcore days of the early 90’s. D.J.’s the like of Luke Slater, Carl Cox, Slipmatt, Fabio and Grooverider supplying many a good night out.A passion for vinyl bordering on addiction forged a natural path towards using friend’s turntables to get a real taste of mixing before he acquired his own decks.
Continuing to pursue his vinyl addiction, Kieron’s musical taste began to mature with a more soulful feel, in the shape of the New York’s Garage and Chicago’s House flavour, and with acknowledgement to his early disco and funk influences, a lot more vocal and uplifting U.S. and U.K. house started to work it’s way into his record box. It was around this time Kieron started out on his hometown scene, playing at parties, local pubs and anywhere that anyone would let him near the decks. His reputation soon spread, and with the resurgence of the whole breakbeat scene thru big beat and labels like Skint, his versatility and ability to play any crowd became his forte.
It was in early ’97 that Kieron decided to leave a promising D.J. career in the U.K. to pack up and come visit his parents, whom had migrated here three years previously. 9 years on he is still here and fulfilling his D.J. potential, coming to be known as one of the most versatile and competent D.J.’s in the local scene. Taking over Always maintaining a happy open minded attitude has seen Kieron receive bookings for all the local QLD promoters and clubs, with work ranging from Advenjah to F.U.B.A.R., Gatecrasher, Acidisco, Vibes on a Summers Day, Good Vibrations, Summerfieldaze, Future Festival, guest spots on QLD’S 4zzz’s crucial cutz, and both Main Room and Uncle Bar at Family, residencies at the Empire Middle Bar and Press Club, Sun Bar, Uncle bar, and as part of the Vinyl Slingers Crew, a residency at The Empire's Moonbar and appearances at all the major festivals in Queensland.
