Graphic Designer and Drummer

About Me

I started playing drums at 11 and started drawing at around the same time everyone else does. I just made it into a career... well, sort of. I use a graphics tablet to do most of my drawing these days. I started PG Grafx in the early 90s and made it my full-time career from 2001-2003. Now I work at Monster Cable full-time and do the occasional freelance job on the side.
I didn't start playing in any serious bands until I moved to The Bay Area in California. I guess Avalon Rising was the first band I joined that I'd call "serious". I played quite a few shows with them and played on their first recording during my two year tenure. One of the few songs I've written that's been recorded is on that disc. " Reborn " is about time travel through reincarnation. I was in the short-lived bands, Orangutango and Band Sinister in the mid-90s. The former being a mostly-cover pop rock band, the latter being a mostly cover progressive rock trio. After that I was in two bands that kind of morphed from one into the other: Psychotic Melodic kind of became Hugg after personnel and musical direction changes.
Then came Groovy Judy . Heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Sly and the Family Stone and many, many other bands, primarily from the late sixties and early seventies, Judy developed her own signature style of positive funk rock. Focusing primarily on positive messages of hope, love, peace and harmony, Judy had recorded her first disc before forming a band to support it. The music has a variety of influences and features solid production, tight horn riffs and some funky beats. Throughout is Judy's tasty Hendrix-flavored guitar playing and strong vocal presence.

The second Groovy Judy disc, "Life," is now out and we're playing around in various clubs, parties and theaters to promote it. This time, the disc is a band effort and more of a rock album. Songs like "Be Who You've Got to Be" and "Your Life" offer a fun, blissful escape from the tumultuous times in which we live. Check it out at Groovy Judy's web site , Groovy Judy's MySpace page , or CD Baby .

My Interests

I'm consumed by graphic design and music. I make a living doing graphic design work and I make a few bucks here and there playing music. In my spare time, I practice with Groovy Judy, create posters and other graphics, including the Groovy Judy website and the occasional freelance project. I also like to work out whenever time permits. A large part of my socializing time revolves around music.
