About Me

This is my space to connect with friends, artists and musicians from Boston and beyond. MUMBOJUMBO was my latest dive into the world of blues and R&B, but you'll see info about other efforts as well: Boston area musical theatre, studio projects, performance art, world music, and the work (and play) of family and friends.
Friends have been asking about my setup behind the vintage Ludwig ('66) and Gretsch (early 70's) drums pictured above. Depending on the gig: Zildjian Cymbals (with help from Paiste and Sabian), Gibraltar Rack, Pacific Rims, Pearl Floating Shell Snare (6.5" maple), Pearl P102 "PowerShifter" Double Pedals, Pearl Hi Hat, Vic Firth Sticks/Mallets and ProMark Rods. I use the DTS One-Touch Tuning System on my snare, an amazing little invention; and I never sit down to play without my Moon Gels and Gorilla Snot. : )
I'm from the Detroit area, originally, and grew up to the AM soundrack of Motown; but I've also enjoyed living and playing in Texas and Oregon, and now in New England where I've been since 1992. I studied Jazz Performance (and other stuff) at the University of North Texas, and have been involved in a variety of music, art, and theatre projects over the years. Meanwhile, I'm in dissertation mode (exploring the relationship between Waldorf Education and developmental cognitive neuroscience) for my doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.); and am also interested in the interpersonal psychology and neuroscience of music, both as a performer and as a therapist.
I've shared a few samples of my drumming / percussion work with various artists in the clips above, but these are not my songs -- and it's certainly not me singing. I'll post my own work one of these days. Meanwhile, my latest drumming work on Julia van Daam's "JUNTABABE" CD is due for release later this year, and I look forward to posting samples of that when it becomes available. Thanks for stopping by!
Canticle of Brother Sun
Most High Almighty Good Lord, Yours are praise, glory, honor and all blessings; To You alone! Most High, do they belong, and no man is worthy of speaking Your Name!
Be praised, Lord, with all Your creatures, and above all our Brother Sun, who gives us the day by which You light our way, and who is beautiful, radiant and with his great splendor is a symbol to us of You, O Most High!
And be praised, Lord, for our Sister Moon and the Stars. You created them in the heavens bright, precious and beautiful!
And be praised, Lord, for our Brother the Wind and for the air and the clouds and for fair weather and for all other through which You sustain Your creatures.
And be praised, Lord, for our Sister Water, so useful, and humble, and chaste!
And be praised, my Lord, for our Brother Fire, through whom You light up the night and who is handsome, joyful, robust, and strong!
And be praised, my Lord, for our Sister, Mother Earth, who supports and carries us and produces the diverse fruits and colorful flowers and trees!
Praise and bless the Lord and give thanks to Him and serve Him with great humility!
Be praised, my Lord, for our Sister, bodily Death from whom no living man can escape! Woe only to those who die in mortal sin; but blessed are those who have done Your most holy will; for the second death can cause them no harm!
