I can't wait for spring every year, so I can get my hands dirty in the garden. I love the miracle that occurs when soil, water and seeds come together. It never fails to amaze me. My job is still very interesting to me, even after 27 years. I work in the Microbiology and Serology Departments of a Very Busy Lab in the Regional Medical Center for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Michgan and Wisconsin, Marquette General Health System. My heart is in Microbiology, however real life scheduling dictates that I spend more time in the Serology Department than in Micro. Even after 27 years, I still feel that I learn new things, especially in Microbiology, and I like the Hands On Aspect of Microbiology, vs the Automated aspect of Serology.

My favorite band at this moment is Rusted Root. I went to an outdoor concert on theirs in St. Petersburg in March while I was on vacation. I was not familiar with their music before I went, but I Loved the Concert! Even the rain didn't keep me from enjoying it! An interesting mix of alt rock, tribal, blues, reggae, hip hop, and jam rock, RR had me hooked by the second song that I heard. With Fiery percussion-fueled instrumentals and the strong presence of the band's vocalists, Rusted Root's live show moved and grooved their faithful audience by offering solid music that didn't dissapoint, and that picked up a new fan. Other favorite music of mine includes Tim Weisberg (jaZZ Flute); I had my children to his music, also The Beatles, The BoDeans, Chris Botti, Moody Blues, joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, John Legend, Acoustic Alchemy, Al Jereau, Bob marley,Carole King, Craig Chaquico, Dixie Dregs, Gerald Albright, Lucinda Williams, Cake, Modern Mandolin Quartet, Handel, Ottmar Liebert, Peter Yorn, Judy Garland, Vanessa(zippless),Squirrel Nut Zippers,Duke Robillard, Billie Holiday, Mike Buble',Vivaldi, KDLang, Ben Folds Five.

My favorite movie of all time is "Gone With the Wind". My second favorite (maybe tied for first) is The Wizard of Oz". I still cry at the end when Dorothy says "There's no place like home", and clicks her heels together.I saw the play "Wicked" in Chicago, and it was Awesome! I'll never see the Wizard exactly the same again! If you have a chance to see this Play, you should GO!
I must have my weekly fix of 3 Shows. Grey's Anatomy Desperate Houswives Brothers and SistersThat's all. Well, not really, I have been enjoying the Planet Earth Series on the Discovery Channel, even missing Desperate Housewives to watch it. (I catch up on DH by watching it on line). And I do like Keith Oberman's "Countdown" news show at 2200 on MSNBC. And if I can sneak it in on the weekends, I enjoy Stacy and whats-his-name on "What Not to Wear". Gee, I guess I like to watch more than I thought... oh and the Food Network on Sunday Morning, and Meet the Press, and the home decorating shows on TLC and HGTV.... Oooo I'm really bad.....
I love historical novels, particularly those that revolve around the British Court. I also love a good murder story. I recently have read books 1 thru 11 of the Stephanie Plum stories by Janet Evanovich. They were a fun change from what I usally read. The last book i read was "The Man from St. Petersburg" by Ken Follett. The book I am curently reading is "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama, and also "The Scarlet Feather" by Maeve Binchy. In between TV shows, I guess!
My kids are my heroes. I am so proud of them as they have grown up, and are making their adult decisions, and living their adult lives. They still have a few rough edges, but I see them heading in the right direction, and I am so proud and happy for them.
