About Me

Matt Riley
is a songwriter and musician and has been working in various strands of the music industry for the past 10 years.
His professional career began at the age of 21 when he was approached to play lead guitar for moody rock band ‘The Spirits’
The Spirits were formed from the ashes of Liverpool band 'The Singing Ringing Tree'. Matt replaced Alan Gillibrand on guitar (who went on to join 'The Real People'), joining Nikki Williams (Vocals), Ronni O'Keefe (Bass and Producer), Mark Roberts (Drums) and Dave Jackson (Keyboards).
‘The Spirits’ had a record deal with Elton John’s ‘Rocket Records’ and a management deal with Bud Prager and went to the USA where their debut single ‘Drive’ was widely acclaimed. Subsequently their debut album “Drive” was released.
Since the split of ‘the Spirits’ Matt continued to work with Ronni O'Keefe in his studio, 'Studio 33' for a number of years and has been writing songs for artists signed to various Management Companies.
Recently Matt set up in partnership with Simon Denny producing and composing music for films from their own studio, Igloo Studios.
Matt recorded his debut solo Album, ‘Standing on the Outside’ which musically takes him back to his first love – the guitar.
Five Matt Riley songs from the 'Standing on the Outside' Album have recently been chosen to feature on the new ‘Ricky Hatton - A Life Story’ DVD.
The official life story of Britain’s favourite boxer, Produced by Integral Productions and released by Liberation Entertainment, will go on sale 12th November 2007.
The DVD documents Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton’s fascinating rise to the top, from his first ever Amateur fights to his latest world Title defence in Las Vegas.
The Matt Riley songs in the DVD are:
Standing on the Outside
Fall from Grace
Alive in Me
Nothing You Can Do
Blink of an Eye
