BRIEF HISTORY 1990-1998
MAHALIA - 1990-1993
Maxi started writing songs at the age of fourteen and joined her first band at the age of eighteen in 1990. First band Mahalia 1990 - 1993, were taken under the wing of Ruby Blues Manager, Dave Kitson with a hopeful release on his record label Red Flame. This never happened. Band parted company in the summer of 1993.
STEAL -1993-1995
Maxine joined her next band after having a six month break after hearing "Whatever" by Aimee Mann. Steal were alot more rock oriented than Mahalia who had been quite poppy! Influences. Manic Street Preachers/ Paul Weller via the boys of the band, compared to Maxines influence of The Fat Lady Sings, Jellyfish and Aimee Mann, they were very popular all over Merseyside especially Liverpool. But Maxine got itchy feet and wanted to move onto ventures new.
C S DRIFT - 1995-1998
At the time of the demise of Steal in 1995, brit pop was fully in force and the trip hop bands of Bristol were very successful. Maxines next band "CS Drift" were in the latter field. There infectious melodies/beats and solemn lyrics of Maxine proved to be a hit with the record companies, all ringing to hear there demos all through mainly word of mouth. This went on for a while, but still no record deal was forthcoming. Main Instigator left the band and the rest of CS Drift parted company shortly after.
BRIEF HISTORY 1998-2006
Had a large break having two little cherubs and getting a plan B under my belt in accountancy.
2007 To Date.....SENSORY LULLABIES - THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE TO JELLYFISH
Sitting at my office desk, getting fat, drinking too much and wandering what to do with life, when suddenly an email popped up from the Jellylist saying that a tribute album to Jellyfish was in the making.... for once in a good while since I passed my exams I got very excited.... thinking this album cannot happen unless I got on it.... I tracked down the myspace site and enquired about available tracks.
Damn, all my favourites had gone but there were still a few available from the Jellyfish Boxset..... So I settled on "That Girl's A Man" and away I went into our studio in Liverpool and recorded our version between January 2007 - March 2007.
This track got accepted by "Burning Sky Records" and the fruits of our labour was released in September 2007.
Oh yes, I managed to get 2 stone lighter over this period, so I did mean it when I said I was getting rather large:)

THE MAKING OF GRAVITATIONAL SEED
So the process of my debut solo album was well away, the aim of a twelve track album of songs written by myself and Ronni O'Keefe a music icon on the Liverpool scene, having worked with such lumineries as (The Farm, The La's, The Real People, The River City People, Del Amitri, 29 Palms, Annabella Lwin, The Spirits, Cook da Books, The Sex Gods, Balcony Dogs. Ste McNally) as writer, producer and sound engineer, it was bound to be in safe hands.
Unfortunately Gravitational Seed is still in the making and although it was set for a Spring release, there has been a sudden change in events and we are now looking at Summer 2008.
But that's not so bad, its best it is outstanding and not just average, so I am happy about this change of events now :)
The mastering of the album is going to be done by Steve Turnidge over in Seattle, USA and also Steve has agreed to take on the artwork and sleeve design, so I have a wonderful team on board. :)
WINTER GHOST -EP
I love christmas time and as the album was taking so long I came up with this impulsive idea to release a christmas EP - OK four of the songs on the EP are actually going to be on "Grav Seed" but we especially made a christmas feel song called "Touching" and I wrote and recited a poem about my experiences of christmas from a young child through to today - now I have children of my own it was especially poignant!
My Sister Rachael did all the artwork for the CD and it turned out quite sweet - even if I say so myself - not one for blowing my own trumpet, I was really really proud of my little Christmas EP and everyone who purchased a copy also had outstanding words to say about it.
I began to regret the poem a little but it turned out, that this was the most moving of all the CD, which was crazy. To hearing the scouse drone of a Liverpool Lass and folk in the USA even googled stuff they hadnt heard of "Thanks Bill".... so all was well in the end.
I am not planning on getting any more copies of "Winter Ghost" made, unless of course people request it and then I may look into it.
BEAUTIFUL ESCAPE - THE SONGS OF THE POSIES REVISITED
During the Spring of 2007, Alan from Burning Sky records asked me if I fancied having a stab at a song for "The Posies tribute" he was planning, so I said I would be made up to. So fellow Jellyfish tribute artist "Don Mabus" and good friend helped on choosing a suitable song and finally between the three of us agreed that "Flavo(u)r of the Month" would be ideal.
So in the summer of 2007 we headed back into our little studio here in Liverpool and began the process of recording. It turned out really well and has wonderful feedback from posies fans alike. In December I got the email to say "FOTM" had been accepted on "Beautiful Escape - The Songs Of The Posies Revisited".
A seven track EP "Beautiful Escape, is coming right along is released on 15th April and is now available for pre-order now. This serves as a taster for the 3cd release, due out on 20th May. I have my copy of the EP and it really is great stuff, so order your copy now..... or I will come and get you... haha :)
