Picture CubeALAN SITAR BROWN was born Nov 1950 a California boy a son of a cowboy musician growing up in a musical family raised in the San Francisco bay area, Alan saw the summer of love 1967 with my his own eyes would often go to San Fransisco to the Haight Ashbury and Golden Gate Park and sat on the Grateful Deads porch as the played in there house then followed them with Pigpen driving his hearse to the park where the then would play on a flatbed truck powered by one electric cord going across the street to a house as cars going over it would unplug it someone would yell plug in the cord then a car would run over it again and over and over "the Summer Of Love 1967" ...*** Now with his long red hair living in Santa Cruz, Ca. and has been playing sitar for about 39 years.Alan Met Ravi Shankar twice. The first time when He was only 18 years old in San Francisco's Filmore West backstage.The 2nd time while working at Fantasy records in Berkeley, Ca. in 1975.Alan ran the mail room at Fantasy records from '73-'79 and also reviewed the A&R that came in. Most of the time Alan was found hanging out in the recording studios with Merl Saunders & Jerry Garcia, Tommy James ,Flora Purim,Airto Moreira,John Fogerty & Creedence, Country Joe & Barry the Fish Melton and many many more. Alan also recently appeared in David Arquette's movie The Tripper and another .movie Road Warriors.Alan is currently working on a few new films, and is revising (Trance Love Airways) and is in the studio recording a new album which should be completed by Feb 2008.*****.On the sitar Alan has performed with Ray Manzarek of The Doors a few times and performed with Rob Wasserman, Michael McClure, Jah Levi, Jaris Dreaming, Fantuzzi,Arjun,Larry Hall, Chief Sunny Raina, and Jaya Lakskmi of Lost At Last. Recorded with Frank Hayhurst,David Roda ,and Joe Munda recorded and performed with Ronnie Ray,Trance Love Airways,Keven Kmetz(God of Shamisen),Peace Tribe Orchestra, Aumnibus, Diana Dawn,Ken Becker,Teressa,Lunatic Fringe,Summer Of Love,Incognito and many many more.and have been composing on the piano for over 40 years and played piano in fine restaurants on the Oregon coast for a few years. Alan is also a vocalist and with great harmony .................................On the sitar Alan's style can seem to go any direction and blends well with just a guitar or a rock band, blues, with folk singers voices Alan can get the sitar to harmonize with the voice or even just didge & drums.. Alan has been heard playing in so many styles such as trance-rock-psychedelic-jazz-folk-country-blues-bluegrass-fu
nk-raga-kirtan, and even reggae sitar,or about any style including covers such as "Paint it black" by the Rolling Stones or the Beatles, Pink Floyd's "Comfortably numb" & The Grateful Dead covers such as Stella blue,Ripple & more. Alan has also recorded soundtracks for film and video Alan also has been planting trees since 1967 and has planted 1000's of trees for the love of the EARTH... Alan is known to be a healer and has saved many animals lives.. Alan loves life,nature and music..Alan in in the studio working on an album with his group TRANCE LOVE AIRWAYS & in working with some producers for some more movies that he will be in for release next year...Alan will be featured playing sitar and
will play some roles in both the new upcoming films..
