About Me

___________________________________________________________" We don't read and write poetry because it's cute; we read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, engineering---these are noble pursuits, but poetry, beauty, romance, love---these are what we stay alive for." ---The Dead Poet's SocietyIf it were my quote, I'd use "art" instead of "poetry."If I've contacted you, it's because you're a writer, artist or in my mind, an interesting person, a worthy organization, book lover or art lover. I rotate my friends regularly.By-the-way, I only wish I lived in the Cook Islands ____________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________

In 2005, my first book was published. "Signs of Art,the paintings of James "Kingneon" Guçwa. Forward by art guru, George Bradford. The book compiles a chronology of my art from '86 to present. Available in hardcover or paperback. Order through www.kingneonBooks.com

_____________________________ ______________________________________In the early '90s, writing became a passion. I've always wrote short stories, essays and journal writing. Needing a break from round the clock painting, I looked for something new to fill my evening hours. After two years of work, editing and rewrites, my first novel, "The Coming," was born. Although it deals with a messiah, it is not a religious book, nor am I a religious man.

Today, Christians everywhere await the return of the Messiah. But what if . . . . Sam Sara, might be better suited to flipping pizzas in the Bronx than struggling at his dubious new role as the world's "Deliverer." God's consecration of Sam hardly prepares him for the continual stream of blunders, rejections and mishaps he encounters in his new life. As much as Sam would like to be accepted, his attempts to pass on God's new message either lands him in the trash, his foot in his mouth, or his body in the slammer at every turn. Miracles are performed, messages delivered and barriers broken, but not before an insurmountable obstacle is overcome. The Coming is a contemporary mainstream romance with an unconventional spiritual twist. Something a little different in today's world of predictability. _______________________________________________

As a child, I grew up in the young suburbs of Central New Jersey. "Alligator Eyes," was born from that memory. Experience the world from the mind of sixteen-year-old Jimmy Kinney, a kid from Jersey with little chance of seeing his next birthday. It's winter of '63: Jimmy is in trouble--again. That's nothing new for the boy, considering how often he's slipped from grace while trying to avoid the potholes left by the memory of his lousy old man. But this time, when Jimmy takes a new look at his childhood nemesis, a tomboy named Bonnie Cole, and sees her with different eyes, the trouble becomes impossible to overcome. Jimmy's burgeoning happiness ends the day Bonnie's mob-connected father literally catches him with his pants down and decides to make the young lovers' lives unbearable. "Alligator Eyes" is a fast paced, mainstream, coming-of-age novel: a story of growing up in leaps, yet wising up in inches. Fans of Salinger and Kerouac will recognize the story's first-person narration and often humorous voice. "Alligator Eyes," is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, but best purchased throught www.BookLocker.com/book/2618.html A third novel is in progress.

My Interests

"BERRY-GO-ROUND" Oils and acrylics on canvas, 30"x36" This was an image used in the book, "This Old Harley," Michael Dregni/Editor, VoyageurPress. I opened the book, laid it on the old scanner . . . . In 1999, I was made an "Officially Licensed" fine artist for Harley-Davidson, Chevrolet/Corvette and Mattel Toys. This one won first place, fine arts category in Airbrush Action Magazine's Annual International Contest.

'My '38 Scout" Oils and acrylic on canvas, 64" x 48" _________________________________________ ___________________________________ _______________________________________________________ I teach art over the Internet. If there is anyone out there who thinks I may be able to help them improve their art (or if there is anyone out there who thinks they may be able to improve mine), I'd be happy to talk with you and work out some arrangements. I'm easy to get along with and will work at your speed and timetable. __________________________________________ ______________________________________________________

All my work is available as limited edition Giclee's. Guaranteed satisfaction or return payment. ________________________________________Basically, I live for stimulation, creativity, education/learning, meaningful activities. Don't like to waste time (which I may or may not be doing right now). Making art is the high priority as is creative writing. Love chess, but not very good (don't play enough). Enjoy building things with the old hammer and nail (like houses). Prefer to build my own. Traveling is the best--the farther from home the better. My PC, Photoshop/Wocam Tablet. Jamming with other musicians. Yoga and vegetarianism. Riding my bike.

Yeah, I know,"What's an Officially Licensed fine artist for Harley doing riding a Moto Guzzi? What can I say? I like my Guzzi. Everybody rides a Harley. By the way, this one is rebuilt and for sale. __________________________________________

'High Velocity' Oils and acrylics on canvas, 48"x48"Please check out my web site at www.KingneonBooks.com or www.Pegasus00.com/Kingneon.html Something new that's got me motivated is the caricature. I'd be happy to create a caricature of you or someone you know. Hell, I'll even do your pet goldfish--I don't care. If I have enough fun with it, I might just give it to you for free. Send me a photo. AND if you'd like to see some of the best womens handbags in the world, have a look at my wife's site: www.Kingneonbooks.com/KBCollections.html

I'd like to meet:

Writers, Artists, and related groups/agencies. Anyone creative and/or interested in societal change, thinkers, peaceful, nature loving individuals, Arundhati Roy, Philosophers, Existentialist's, Political scientists, Peace Loving Anti-Establishment types, Contemporary Gypsys, Spiritualists, Enviornmentalists, Alternative Lifestyle Advocates, Islanders, NonConformists, Vegans or anyone I could learn from or that has something interesting to say. ..

Music:

All styles of music that has quality, merit, rythmn (which leaves out hip-hop/rap for me. Sorry). Favorites are; easy jazz, blues, classical, some new age, some latin and eclectic. Almost all Bop, early 50's and swing and big band and standards. Like visual arts: the old master's, impressionists and expressionists were worlds apart from the abstract expressionists, minimalists, dadaists, non-objective, conceptual, etc, art. I learned long ago: Art is always reflected in the times.

Movies:

One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, any movie with Robert Duvall as a cowboy, early David Lynch; like Eraserhead; Dr. Strangelove, Forth of July, Black Robe, Cabasa DeVaca, The Committments, Last Temptation of Chirst, Barfly, Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia, Jerry, Fargo, Memento, Pulp Fiction, the sleeper; Vera Drake, Shindler's List, Seven, Cinderella Man, Napolean Dynamite, indie and foreign films, Hard Candy, too many to list or remember---I love a good movie and always wanted to direct one (that's not likely). Don't generally like the pathetic Hollywood formula of sex and violence.

Television:

T.V. stinks. It's a shame, really. Too much negativity and consumerism. Mainstream news is pathetic and intended to manipulate and influence. Can't stand those commercials either(except for Geico Cavemen and Gatorade)!

Books:

There's too many: Letters From the Earth by Mark Twain, Walden by Henry David Thoreau, Catcher In The Rye by J.D.Salinger, of course, Alligator Eyes and The Coming by J.G.Cragg. Prefer non-fiction, especially: law, government, history, Constitutional law, etc.

Heroes:

There are thousands of heroes throughout the ages; often unknown men and woman who will never find their way into history, but did what was right, against all odds. Any who stands against oppression, tyranny or injustice is a hero. In this age of political corruption, mistrust of government, runaway spending, unjust taxes, we really need a hero in the executive position. If you have not discovered Representative RON PAUL; who he is and what he stands for, I would plead with you to take the time. HE IS AMERICA'S HOPE! He truly stands apart from any politician I have ever known. A few other personal hero's that come to mind: John Locke, Mahatma Gandi, Doctors Without Borders, Rosa Parks, Sir Thomas More, Alexis De Tocqueville, Henry David Throeau, Bernard Getz, Jesus Christ(remember, I'm agnostic), the Flight 93 passengers and so many more.______________________________ I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
