About Me

I live in the north of England, a place blessed with remarkable natural beauty, which is great because I love hiking the hills, moorlands, and woodlands. Foreign travel is also one of my passions. The farthest East I've been is Beijing; the farthest West Los Angeles. I've also been to quite a number of the old Eastern Bloc countries.
***Breaking News*** My book could be adapted into a movie! Details here!
I'm a writer and have just launched a blog to explore environmental, conservation, and rights issues - www.LionsledbySheep.com .
I also had my first book published recently - 'What if...?', a mainstream suspense thriller with an eco heart and a philosophical twist, which I've been told is similar to a James Patterson or James Rollins type of novel (see www.Steve-N-Lee.com ).

What if...?

Midnight. Christmas Eve. Manhattan.
A Ford T-bones a Mazda at an intersection. A woman, Mary, lies in a pool of blood in the gutter. Dead. Almost. But she doesn't die — a stranger saves her, then vanishes. And her world is torn inside out. Instead of being grateful for the gift of life, she demands answers — Who? Why? And how? Mary is educated, traveled, and open-minded, but sometimes the truth can be both beautiful and terrifying. What she discovers shakes her to the very core – an enigmatic stranger who seems to possess the power to heal - and her world will never be the same again...
With her gifted friend, Mary embarks upon a quest to fulfill her dream of making a difference to the world. In a desperate race against time, the duo set out to heal a world reeling in pain, little realizing that those in control - the government, corporate America, even the mafia - will stop at nothing to keep the world just as it is, poverty, disease, wars, and all.
On a roller coaster adventure filled with intrigue, action, and shocking revelations, Mary discovers that changing the world is not only difficult but downright deadly.

If I had to compare 'What if...?' to something you'll know? This is kind of off the wall, but imagine ~
~ a religious mystery to rival ‘The Da Vinci Code’ ~ the philosophical resonance of ‘The Green Mile’ ~ the supernatural ‘saving the world’ element of TV’s ‘Heroes’ ~ the struggle to triumph over impossible odds of Kurosawa’s ‘Seven Samurai’
Gunplay, double crosses, even a car chase - 'What if...?' is not only packed with intrigue and action but also has plot elements and themes that are particularly pertinent to today, including ~
~ the US Presidential election ~ environmental/conservation issues ~ poverty and human rights abuses
Please feel free to check out the Sample Chapters .
If your local bookstore doesn't stock 'What if...?', they can order it. Or you can buy it from ~

Making a Difference

As 'What if...?' highlights issues concerning the environment, poverty, conservation, and human rights, a proportion of the proceeds from sales will go to charities working in these areas.

People who care about the things I do. (Kinda cliche, yeah!) Especially those who want to make a difference. But I'm not averse to intelligent conversation with people with contrary views, too.

Music:

Doves, Keane, Portishead, Pink Floyd, Grabriel, Stereophonics, Cranberries, Kaiser Chiefs, Chilli Peppers, Suede, Bowie.

Movies:

Action, comedy, and horror.
Lord of the Rings, Terminator 2, X-Men 2, Die Hard, Matrix, Saw, Serenity, The Incredibles, 12 Monkeys, House of Flying Daggers, Leon, The Fly, Apollo 13, E.T., Braveheart, Jurassic Park, Clerks, Spinal Tap, Young Frankenstein.
Robin Williams and Bill Hicks DVDs.

Television:

I love US TV - Friends, 24, Frasier, Prison Break, House, Star Trek: Enterprise, Lost, Heroes, The Simpsons...
But I always make time for British classics, e.g. Dr Who, Life on Mars, Extras, Fawlty Towers, anything with David Attenborough...

Books:

That one with the green cover. You know the one. It's got pages. Words and stuff. By that guy. The green one. The GREEN one!

Heroes:

'Save the cheerleader; save the world.' Isn't that what this section means?
