The story of blues afficianado and historian, Clifford Antone, who brought The Blues to Austin for 31 years and was one of the key players in making Austin the "Live Music Capital of the World."
Back in 1975, the original Antone's was one of the first clubs to appear on (the then uninhabited) 6th Street and quickly became a second home to Chicago Blues legends like Muddy Waters, Hubert Sumlin, Sunnyland Slim, Pinetop Perkins, Luther Tucker, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Reed, Eddie Taylor, Jimmy Rodgers, Willie 'Big Eye' Smith, Calvin Jones, and more.
Another legendary incarnation of the club on Guadalupe Street nurtured the careers of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kim Wilson, Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton, Marcia Ball, and so many great musicians.
Clifford's influence was exponential and can be found in today's young musicians Gary Clark, Jr., Carolyn Wonderland, Eve Monsees, The Keller Brothers, The Moeller Brothers, Del Castillo, Guy Forsyth, Ruthie Foster, Bob Schneider and The Scabs and many others. He touched a lot of lives.
