James C. Mitchell was raised in a small town near the Alabama/Florida line. He was muiscally influenced by his uncles Ronnie, Leon, and Gerald Lowery who had a popular bluegrass gospel band in the Alabama/Florida area. Leon taught him to play guitar at a young age. At age 13, with the help of his uncle Ronnie, James became proficient on banjo, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and dobro, which at that time was his main instrument. As a teenager he picked up the electric guitar and began playing with local bands in the Southern Alabama region.
Today James records with Nashville’s finest musicians, singers, producers, and writers. Of those include; Alan Jackson (Good Time CD), Alabama, Dierks Bentley (which earned him a platinum record), Brooks and Dunn, Mel Tillis, Cledus T. Judd, Billy Yates, Brent Rowen, Billy Lawson, Jamey Johnson, Terri Clark, Lisa Shaffer, Leona Williams, Heidi Newfield, John Anderson, Big Kenny, Jessica Andrews, and the list goes on.
James proudly endorses Elixer strings, Peavey amps and guitars and Trailer Trash Pedal Boards.
This page is not managed by James, but he does read and reply to his own messages.
