Shea Cleveland

Celebrating 10 years in the Music City

About Me

Shea Cleveland has a life dedicated to country music. Born in Searcy Arkansas, Merle Haggard really caught Shea's ear at only 3 years old and instantly became hooked on the records his father, Mike had. Shea grew up there performing at county fairs and local political functions throughout Central Arkansas. Making the move to Nashville in 1998, he has since written, co-written, recorded, and co-produced sevral potential hot country hits and sings them with a classic-style baritone country vocal. Shea and his top co-writer, Jodie Stoeckle from Fresno, California have been on a 5 year mission to take this music to a national level.
The first album completed in 2006, "Guitars & Dreams" is modern country with traditonal themes and influence including songs written by Shea himself along with Jodie.

Influences: Merle Haggard first and foremost. I don't think I ever would have done this if his music hadn't drawn me in as such a young kid. I will always be a huge Hag fan. Also the late legends such as Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rogers etc...Other living legends Willie Nelson, George Jones, Ray Price, etc...The guys out of the class of 89 really reached out grabbed me Clint Black, Garth, and Alan Jackson. Of course George Strait, Dwight Yoakam, and Randy Travis are all heroes of mine. My late great mamaw of course who bought me my first guitar and taught me a thing or 2 about music and my Uncle Jackie Stewart who has more talent in his pinky finger than many famous musicians....also The Eagles, Restless Heart, Son Volt, etc.....

As a songwriter: Merle in this category as well, Whitey Shafer, Tommy Collins, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Harlan Howard, Tony Arata, Tommy Barnes, Charlie Craig...etc...

As a musician: Merle Haggard, Roy Nichols, Don Rich, Ray Flacke, Brent Mason, Randy Mason....etc...

Sounds Like: I like for people to think I just sound like me, but you can hear a little of sevral of the above influences in my music. People have told me I sound like a cross between a young Merle Haggard and Clint Black. I always take that as very nice compliment.
