About Me
My name is Russ Ritenour, seasoned musician, songwriter ASCAP Member. Lead Guitarist, fiddle, mandolyn and steel guitar. I started playing in clubs around the age of 11 years old and grauduated into the honky tonks and so on from there. I'm the third of 9 children and spent some time in foster care so, music was a Major outlet for me! I'm very grateful to have had the oppurtunity to work with some of the entertainers I've backed up over the years. These include, Michael Twitty, Joe & Rose Lee Maphis, Warner Mack, Big Al Downing, Lane Brody, The Reno Brothers, Fiddlin Buck Ryan & The Jimmy Dean Band. I've also performed for President Ronald Reagan and shared the mic and stage with screen actress Elizabeth Taylor. I'm a member of AFM Local #770 and homebase is The Shenandoah Valley,VA. I can play any new stuff or traditional standards although my favorites are, classic country, Hank & rockibilly music.I originate from old school country & rock and Hot Rods but believe me, when I step up to the plate with my guitar, I'm not scared! My wife of 20 years and I did live awhile in Nashville back in the 80's. I also have a son Tyler, whom I am very proud of and also recently got his license. I'll never forget where I from but, Nashville TN has always been the home in my heart. By the way, I do travel quite a bit so, if you ever find the need for a seasoned picker, give us a call at 540-323-0667. Thanks again. Russ Ritenour.
