Monte Good was born and raised in Owasso, Oklahoma...just outside of Tulsa. Because of the rich musical heritage of the region, he was fortunate to grow up listening to some of the greatest country music and western swing of the day. He spent his early years fronting bands and playing the various nightclubs that covered the southwest region of the United States at the time.
Realizing he wanted more out of the music scene than he could acheive locally in Oklahoma, he decided to pull up stakes make the move to Nashville, Tennessee in 1989. Upon arriving in Nashville he quickly discovered that virtually everyone in "Music City" wanted to be a singer, so he took his first road gig playing pedal steel guitar and has been working steadily in the music industry for almost 19 years.
Along with his years of playing on the road, Monte also does session work, playing on two major label projects in the past two past years. While his primary instrument is the pedal steel guitar, Monte also plays lap steel, dobro, guitar, and harmonica. He has worked with such artists as:
Scott McQuaig (Capitol Records) 1989-1991
Stacy Dean Campbell (Columbia Records) 1992-1993
Ricochet 1993
John Michael Montgomery (Atlantic Records) 1994-1998
Sara Evans (RCA Records) 1999
Lila McCann (Asylum Records) 1999-2000
Neal McCoy (Warner Bros. Records) 2000-2002
George Canyon (Universal Records) 2004-2006
Monte has also backed up and played alongside MANY other legendary country artists over the years ranging from members of the original Texas Playboys to Vince Gill and others. His travels have taken him around the world and allowed him to perform on the stage of the Grand Ol' Opry, The Tonight Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, The CMA Awards, The ESPN Sports Awards, and many, many more.
After tiring of the road over the last few years, Monte decided to "return to his roots", so to speak, and put together a TRUE country band this past year. He realized that traditional country music was being lost in todays music scene, so along with some close friends he formed and now fronts the Honky-Tonk Heroes Band. This group of top-notch road and session musicians is dedicated to keeping the tradition of REAL country music alive!!
The group consists of players who have worked along some of the true greats of country music: Guitarist James Mitchell is one of Nashville's busiest session players, playing in the last year on albums by such artists as Alabama, Brooks and Dunn, and Alan Jackson.....steel guitar player Mike Sweeney has played with numerous country artists over his years in Nashville, including time on the road with the legendary Ray Price.....fiddler Aaron Till has spent many years on the road performing with Nashville artists including Mark Chesnutt and Joe Diffie among others.....bass player Bill Cook has played with various artists over the years ranging from Jim Ed Brown to most currently Randy Travis.....and drummer Willie Cantu was an original member of Buck Owens Buckaroos band, playing on such classic records as "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail" and "Cryin' Time"!!!!
They continue to perform and record in Nashville and bring their style of country music to new fans each week. Check them out....you'll be glad you did!!!!
