As a freshman in college she bought her first guitar and hit the local bluegrass scene playing anywhere she could. After school she moved to Nashville in ’93 where she played open mic nights honing her performance skills with many legendary performers along Printer’s Alley. It was here that she met the love of her life the late rock/blues guitarist, Bill Collins, with whom she had the honor of sharing many stages in local venues like Skull’s Rainbow Room, Barbara’s and Tootsies Orchid Lounge. Bill was a great influence on Joanna helping her to evolve her sound by introducing rock’n’roll to her already accomplished repertoire of ol’ time country and bluegrass.Joanna sees herself as a “musician’s musician†where her enthusiasm and passion for music shines onstage and audiences love it. Country pioneer Jean Shepard and the classy and sassy Mae West are among her personal heroes for their determination, talent and ability to preserver under adversity. Their influence shines through in Joanna’s latest tracks “Call me a fool†and “Ain’t been home lately.â€Taking a break from the music scene to raise her daughter in Conway, Arkansas, Joanna has returned full force with her unique blend of Country, Blues and Rock on her debut self-titled CD “Joanna Collins.†With her band of seasoned professional musicians she affectionately refers to as “her brothers,†Joanna is a country star in the making offering inspiring lyrics, a beautiful voice and an ever-present smile.John HarleyPS...
