Shovel up the Big New Sound of the West

About Me

Duke Michaels, or 'DM', as some friends might say, has his own recipe for success and good clean living: "We're all simple engine's and the better we can keep her that way, the better off we'll be. So keep her simple". Duke Michaels is a storyteller that’s been around the prairie a time or two and knows the feeling of being in a ditch with no shovel. Duke has come from the ground up and taught himself how to build a good solid house and a well-structured song using his own toolkit of well-rounded skills and good common sense.
Duke has produced 12 tracks for his upcoming album, “Welcome to DM Country”. DM has no record company or big promotion behind him, so he’s learned to wear the many hats necessary to offer you a taste of his travels by cooking up his own brand and flavor of Country Music. Michaels has a concrete slab of songs and ideas he’s been hauling around in the back of his rig for some time now and that hard fought foundation continues to expand and add weight to his tires.
DM Country is Duke's new place to park his ride and he'd like to welcome all his friends and family to stop by and visit this new interactive world where anything’s possible and experience his own wacky animated version of the Wild West. She’s always sunny in DM Country, even when she's raining, so you need not worry about the weather, or how you’re gonna get there. It's only a click away and it's best if you kick off your shoes so you can see your toes tapping. There's always a new song that's calling, or a story that's happy to be waiting. And the critters always keep a rhyme that's ready for Duke to run through his Saw-Mill. Building the finished structure for any new song is just a soda cap popping.
So if it's a new song you're looking for, Duke Michaels is a sure bet, and if it's a new musical experience you want, Duke is his own man and that's just what you're gonna get. One thing's for sure, Duke's been living the new American/Euro dream for some time and his new record will show why it's a story worth the telling. It’s the kind of story where the dream had every reason to die but never does and never will. It's about a boy who moves to LA to get a record deal and becomes a Cowboy. No horse, no saddle, just spirit and guts.
Like 'Rock 'n' Roll' when it starts to kick, ole Duker has turned into a modern day rider with the spirit of the 'Wild West' running through his veins and new frontiers pounding at his chest. He rides with or against the wind and rolls with all the punches the land and sky has to offer. Duke has had the pleasure and opportunity to swallow more pride and eat more ‘horseshit 'n' gunsmoke’ than most folks would ever own up to but refuses to be knocked off his horse. Like many warriors, Duke Michaels is all heart and his soul continues to guide him through every closed door that stands before him. He is driven by love and marches to the beat of his own drum while walking down his own highway. DM has learned to keep his eyes on the road and his feet stomping to the rhythm of his guitar strings strumming while he works out his 'new day songs' and 'daily words'. His music has become an extension of the freedom he feels everyday under that purple sky he keeps close to his heart, and "The Purple Sky Outlaws" are his family and friends.
If you ever wanted to meet a modern day pioneer and gunslinger, you can listen to Duke Michaels and own his records. There's gonna be a new territory on the Internet, and its called "DM Country". Click on the Video tab to check out the web site trailer and visit dukemichaels.com soon to get all the updates on the upcoming release of "Welcome To DM Country" and experience the internet like you've never seen it before. "The truth is in the tracks" … Duke Michaels

All of your names and years of work carry a mighty vibration within me that I will always be thankful for. So thank you all.
Sounds Like: The Beatles and The Rolling Stones playing Country Music with some modern day Industrial, Rap, and Hip-Hop beats tucked underneath the mixes just enough to add a bit of dirt and spit a little grit into that Twang.
