Hey, my friends work for/run a web business called ReadMyChest.com and I decided I'd give them a little publicity here on my profile! :) Check 'em out and let me know what you think!
I'd like to meet people I "ought" to have known... my grandparents for instance. Two were gone by the time I was three, and as much as others talk about them, I really wish I had "met" them. From there I've actually gotten interested in genealogy, and those who came before me. I've tracked down some of the "old home places" dating back into the 1700s, and at almost every one I've taken a look around at the environment, the trees, the nearby rivers... and I've known I would ENJOY living in just that kind of place, so I can "understand" how my family came to settle there. That has made me a bit more curious about the PEOPLE. To me genealogy is about more than names and dates... it is about WHO we are. Sometimes I'll track down a story about one of the ancestors and I'll see some aspect of my personality in it... and I can't help but wonder if there's a bit in the way of powerful genes coming down from them.I also enjoy meeting distant cousins (I've met a 10th cousin, we were FRIENDS long before we knew we were family! :) ) and seeing what traits we share. To me that is a lot of fun.I guess I'm a sucker for that belief that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it... I want to learn from my family, and be stronger for it. :)

I just joined a new site called ReverbNation... and they need to get more country folks on there! ;) Here's a little mini-player deal where you can listen to what I found there... I may need to launch a campaign to get my favorite songs over on there so I can listen to them anytime I'm online.
