BUDDY HOLLY

Buddy Holly may not have given birth to rock and roll, but he sure rocked the cradle.

About Me

My Interests

Over 90,000 Buddy Holly-ics! That's how many Buddy Holly fans have visited my page. I'm talking about fans from all over the world! To each of you, I say THANKS! Your kind words and comments are always appreciated and I count each and every one of you as a great friend. In an interview on Oct. 23, 1957, Buddy said rock and roll would probably only last another year and a half. He didn't live long enough to realize the impact he had on a whole generation of future rock and rollers like the Beatles, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones.Carl Perkins said, "Buddy Holly may not have given birth to rock and roll, but he sure rocked the cradle." I only made this page so we would have a place to "rave on" about Buddy Holly, his life and his music. So, Rave On!

Heroes:

Buddy Holly followed country and western and bluegrass music until Feb. 13, 1955, when Buddy and Bob (Montgomery) fronted a show at Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock that included Elvis Presley. Buddy had previously stated that one day he hoped he would be good enough to make it in country and western music. Elvis changed his mind about a country and western career. Buddy said, "Without Elvis, none of us could have made it."Elvis considered Buddy Holly to be one of the true originals of rock and roll. He said, "Looking back over the last 20 years, I guess the guy I've admired most in rock and roll is Buddy Holly."
...and the King of rock and roll raved on._________________________________________________
But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the door step
I couldn't take on more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
