Scott MacDonald is a singer/songwriter from
the city of Glasgow in Scotland his acoustic
and harmonica driven music has been influenced by the likes of Neil Young, Bob
Dylan, John Martyn, Nick Drake and Mike
Scott among many other contemporary singer/
songwriters.
Born in Paisley and brought up in the
village of Eaglesham on the south side of
Glasgow, Scott first became addicted to
music when he first saw The Clash in
concert at the Apollo in Glasgow. After
years of following The Clash he discovered
Neil Young in the early hours of a party in
Glasgow, this changed his life and the
direction his life would take. He then
started listening to contemporary folk
singer/songwriters like John Martyn, Nick
Drake and Bert Jansch then bought his first
acoustic guitar and started to write. Then
the journey began!
After a year of playing pubs, clubs and
busking in Australia he returned to Scotland to release his debut album New Heart
which picked up 4 star reviews from the
list and the times plus frequent airplay
from radio scotland. He then has supported
and been on tour with artists :- The Handsome Family, Martin Stephenson, Bert Jansch, Gordon Haskell and Eddie Reader plus
many more. He has also appeared at the T in
the Park festival, The Edinburgh Festival,
The Highland Festival, The Ullapool Guitar
Festival Celtic Connections and appeared at this years Belladrum Festival.
He was based in the highlands for the last 4 years where he wrote his second album 'Where Travellers Go' which was recorded by Frankie Gibbon at Wild Trax studio in County Durham. He also hooked up with good friend Martin Stephenson to make 'Soul City' recorded, produced and played on by himself.
Soul City was released in 2007 and Scott is now living in Glasgow again writing new material and rehearsing for more gigs and tours in 2008.
