’The wonder that is, Esther O’Connor’’
(Alan Robson, Metro Radio)
Everyone agrees that Esther O'Connor is a blazing new talent: a thoughtful, optimistic singer-songwriter with a slew of great tunes and ear-sticking lyrics. It could be genetic - her father is WET, WET, WET guitarist Graeme Duffin. But don't take the experts' word for it: you need to listen to Fragile State, the third single from The Place Where We Are, released December 2nd. Or see Esther at her best, playing live with her five-piece band (which includes her husband and her little brother).
Esther has shared the stage with everyone from the Zutons and Air Traffic to Beverley Knight at 2007's free Northsound festival. Radio can't get enough of her tuneful, haunting songs: Tom Morton of Radio Scotland describing her single, Nirvana Man, as "Neil Young meets Beyonce round at Joni Mitchell’s house".
The Herald, Scotland on Sunday, Scotsman and the Sunday Times have all interviewed Esther. The Sunday Times noted approvingly that she is "David Geffen crossed with Stevie Nicks." Journalists recognize that Esther is a trailblazer, a talented musician who also runs her own business and releases records on her own terms.
