Dick Philpot

Semi finalist in the 2007 UK songwriting contest.

About Me

Dick was born somewhere between Lonnie Donegan and the Beach Boys. As a boy he played a red plastic guitar, subscribed to ‘Look in’ and whistled the tune to ‘Lost in space'. There was no cure!
Dick was a Semi Finalist in the UK Songwriter Contest 2007
Dick writes all his songs and plays all instruments. Dick is very pleased that Justine Barker, of smiling knife, will sometimes sing with him.

The Waifs seduced Neil Diamond one night while listening to the Pogues and this is the song that their lovechild wrote - bgypsies from Sierraville, California on 12Feb2006
Reminicent of Tom Petty. The lyric's paint you a picture. You can almost see the dusty city and the room where they lay and hear the "city beat". The music is well played and just right for late night music fests. - FrgottenShadows from Hesperia, California on 28Feb2006
i liked the picture that you painted....wanted to walk in thr street below you....cool... - lyric01 from Auckland, New Zealand on 8Feb2006
What others have said about 'Confetti'.................
Good feel, somber mood, reminds me of Arlo Guthrie a bit. Thoughtful lyrics and the rhyming scheme was well done. - marsarizona from Oakland, California on 4Feb2006
Johnny Cash lives! - mdb172 from Chicago, Illinois on 4Feb200
guitar, candle, songwriter, great equation. love the mood and feel of the song, there's a sense of longing in the lyric that i cant put my finger on. over all it's a well done tune, very nice. - shawndutka from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on 3Feb2006
This song is stained with Simon and Garfunkle's steady influence, bringing to mind visions of King Richard's Faire or perhaps an afternoon spent basking in a sun-drenched meadow pondering life's mysteries. The singer has an intriguing voice, and has deft finger picking skills. Nice work. - bigtrain from North Berwick, Maine on 1Feb2006
its peaceful and dark at the same time. its really has a nice ful to it. it something to you would here in the car in a rain strom. it works. - TheBonjoes from Bullshit, North Carolina on 31Jan2006
This is a very good folkrock ballad, very simple instrumentation and a nice barritone doing the singing. Keep up the good work. - JounceKuda from Leaksville, North Carolina on 30Jan2006
