About Me

.. MySpace BackgroundsKatrina Bristow is a New Zealand born singer songwriter who is currently living in London writing and recording material for her debut album. Her earthly rich sensitive vocals sends shivers down your spine while her organic country infused tracks take you an unexpected journey of love won and lost and of personal battles and awakenings. Katrina Bristow was born in Gore, a small country town at the bottom of the south Island of New Zealand. At the tender age of 8 & 10 The Bristow Sisters competed in their first country singing competition. The Bristow Sisters soon started winning awards in and around southland and by the following summer the red falcon 500 could be spotting travelling all over the south island taking the girls and reluctant baby brother James to festival after festival. Katrina loved the stage and thrived on performing at aged 10 she danced in her first of many musicals. At aged 15 Katrina represented Southland at the young entertainer of the year award, and in her final year at school was awarded with Southlands Young Achiever of the Year award for excellence in the performing arts. Katrina left her home town of Gore to attend Otago University where she was awarded a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) and a Diploma for Graduates (Marketing). Katrina was later awarded her Chartered Accountancy qualification. Although working as a Chartered Accountant Katrina still continued to sing, compose and record her music. In 2003 Katrina moved to London. Juggling her work commitments as a Chartered Accountant and her performance commitments has been a bit of a challenge for Katrina but in July 2005 Katrina took the leap and left full time employment to focus on that area of her life which has always brought her such joy and personal fulfilment 'Singing'. In June 2006 was awarded her Diploma in Musical Theatre from the prestigious London Mountview Academy of Theatre arts. Katrina is currently writing and recording material for her debut album...

Influences: Our little house in Gore New Zealand could never have been considered a quite home to grow up in, I am from a family of music lovers, dad with his blues and rock n roll (Elivs Presley & Shakin Stevens) mum with her love of the most up to date pop tracks, (Linda Ronstant), my sister Jackie who was composing her own songs as long as I can remember and baby brother James who could only get to the sterio if the rest of the house were out and about but when he did his musically selection was always loud and had a solid grove and base line.I just loved it all and would spend hours ever week recording Ready To Roll (RTR) top 10 hits, and stealing mum's gold high heals so I could dance along with the solid gold dancers. I was a little torn at this stage in my life as I couldn't decicde if I was going to be a pop star or a solid gold dancer! It was during these formative years that I started to discover what it was in a songwriter or artist that drew me to them 'Passion, commitment and honesty' I fell in love with the vocals of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Carol King and Karen Carpenter, I loved the honesty of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Gean Pitney. Singing with sister Jackie we tried to replica the incredible melodies and harmonies of Crowded House and the Eagles and the passion of The Judds.I later discovered four female singer songwriters who have truely inspired me Shawn Colvin, Bonnie Rait, Sheryl Crow and Joni Mitchell. One of my strongest influences and the artist who I truely admire is my sister Jackie Bristow - she is truely an amazing talent and each song will take you on a very special journey.I am continually discovering amazing talents!!!
