If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun!

About Me

Shelly's a late bloomer making up for lost time. She's finally going global with sharing the greatest gift God gave her... her sense of humor. Laughter is truly therapeutic, and her mission is to help you lead a happier, healthier life. Don't let the mild-mannered, middle-aged mom persona fool you. Her mantra is "If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun" -- and this Atlanta writer and comedian never misses the fun!
My best feature? My two big...
Haha! I'm not a prude, but sorry guys, this is NOT a freakin' peep show. You want to see cleavage? Google "Grand Canyon".
I'm speaking of my big...BROWN EYES! And according to one of those wacky MySpace quizzes, here's what's behind the windows to my soul: Either sexy as heck or are adorable. Loves to make new friends. Their relationship tends to be very honest because if they aren't truly in love, then the relationship won't work. They fall easily for their best friends. Will do anything for that special person. Kind and polite. Enjoys being with their guy. LOVES to party. Can make ANYONE laugh or cheer them up. Loves to please the one they care for or love. Is NOT THE PERSON YOU WANT TO PISS OFF!! Great Kisser.
I'm living out one of my fantasy careers as a broadcast journalist by presenting: Seriously Weird! News. These current events are available for your listening and viewing pleasure here and at ReverbNation AND WILL SOON BE AVAILABLE AS MY SECOND CD!!
Another video series I created is a result of my being a hopeless romantic with a sarcastic edge: "The Love Zone" is a place where listeners share romantic details about themselves that I don't really care about but will dedicate a song because I have nothing better to do.
I invite you to click my widget (does that sound naughty or is it only my mind?) where you can listen to comedy, get up-to-date info about my shows and media appearances, watch some videos, view my pics, read a blog, and buy my CD. BUT MOST IMPORTANT: You can join my mailing list, become a fan...and share the comedy love with your friends!

My Interests

The usual "mom" stuff: Hockey (never believed in "time out"...when my kid acted up he went straight to the penalty box), PTA (got one of those bumper stickers bragging about my kid...the one who's on "Detention Roll"). ALL forms of comedy, writing as often as I can, music, travel, and laundry (not at all interesting but a necessity). I especially enjoy trips to the dry cleaners!

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet anyone who enjoys comedy, whether you perform or just like to watch. Or do both at the same time.

AWESOME NEWS FROM MY AUSSIE FRIENDS GLOBAL MUSIC STAR: I will be featured in their monthly e-zine with a Comedy Capers column. And simulcast with that will be one of my audio humor pieces. And check the June issue for my interview where I share my own seriously weird fairy tale -- read it and laugh happily ever after!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Quiet on the Set!, striving to bring you the best entertainment, is excited to add a newscast to their show! We are proud to announce that Shelly Ryan has agreed to do a weekly pre-recorded segment, "Seriously Weird! News" on our show!

After my guest appearance on the show (scroll to "Shelly Ryan"), I'm honored to be a part of the Q-Crew. You can download past shows, embed the player on your profile, and subscribe to the podcasts!

Shelly Ryan: Seriously Weird! provides 15 tracks of retro humor that will take you on a blast to the past and leave you laughing happily ever after! I will donate 100% of all CD sales (including mp3 album downloads) to Indie Music for Life to help fight cancer through laughter. Click on the cover to join me in making a difference!

I love hearing from my friends! In addition to posting fun comments on my profile and blogs, I encourage you to leave a voice comment!

Music:

My MP3 player has an eclectic mix of tunes: acoustic, classical, classic rock, Latin...what I listen to depends on my mood. I support Indie artists because they are the heart and soul of the industry.

Movies:

Anything by Monty Python; Bringin' Down the House, Weekend at Bernie's, Grumpy Old Men, Foul Play, Mrs. Doubtfire, Stripes, Airplane! I'm a hopeless romantic...but I have a saracstic edge when it comes to love, so here's my favorite movie scene (from The Wedding Singer):

Television:

Don't watch that much, but enjoy vintage SNL, Monty Python, and Whose Line is it Anyway. Missed Sex and the City in its heyday because we're too cheap to get premium channels. Anybody know how "Mr. Big" got his nickname? And I love comedy about the dry cleaners...

Books:

Monty Python: All the Words, Sweet Potato Queens (various), Dave Barry (all of them), Hockey for Dummies, and books on the art of comedy writing and performing. And I can't forget my vintage collection by cartoonist Charles Schultz!

Heroes:

My parents, who raised me to have a healthy sense of humor. My children, the apples of my eye (who haven't fallen far from the tree). My friends, many of whom are just as busy as I am but are always there for laughs and margaritas. And everyone else who keeps my sense of humor going on those days when things aren't always that funny.
