If you are a woman in the arts whether it be music, comedy, spoken word, dance, visual art, or more, now is the time to join an organization that works hard for its members to build opportunities for them to showcase their work, get air time on the soon to go live Indiegrrl Radio Channel, be a part of a networking community, and attend our conferences that showcase only WOMEN so that we can get you noticed by industry professionals and teach you skills to better your careers. The Hotel Preston in music city Nashville, TN will host our 2009 conference.
Indiegrrl Women in the Arts supports and showcases all Independent Women in the Arts regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. We will be showcasing the best women in the independent music, performance poetry, story telling, and comedy industries at our 2009 Conference located in Nashville, TN at the beautiful Hotel Preston. Women and men are welcome to attend the conference. Indiegrrl main stage showcase artists must be members of the Indiegrrl Women in the Arts organization.
The 2009 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conference will provide an excellent opportunity for all Women in the Arts, booking agencies, venues, industry professionals, businesses supporting the arts, and self-represented artists to gather together, network, showcase, exhibit and conduct business. The 2009 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conference will feature a dinner buffet banquet on Thursday night with two keynote speakers, David Llewellyn and Karen E. Reynolds and will recognize the newly inducted Indiegrrl Honorary members. The conference celebrates "Women in the Arts" and emerging talent with 3 days/nights of main stage showcases from selected original acts and artists. Industry professionals attend as panelists, speakers, mentors, exhibitors and talent scouts to network, do business and share their experience with the registrants. Over 90 showcase opportunities are available in various categories. The conference will feature 2 days of panels, clinics, workshops, mentoring & demo listening sessions, and vendor exhibit hall trade show, and after hour Guerrilla Showcases. Sunday morning we will gather together for breakfast and farewells until 2010.
David Llewellyn will be a Keynote Speaker for the 2009 conference and will address the attendees at the conference dinner banquet on Thursday night. David will present his valuable insight on being successful as an Indie artist and songwriter. He has maintained success as an internationally touring artist and his songs remain on the top 10 radio plays on the FolkDJ charts. David's CDs have proved to be fast sellers at gigs and house concerts around this country and back home with tours in Wales, Ireland and the UK. Recent personal achievements include GRAND PRIZE WINNER of the prestigious 2008 JOHN LENNON SONGWRITING CONTEST- Folk Category - with the song, "Take Us Down." Winner 2007 - "New Folk" competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Winner 2008 - W. C. Handy Music Festival, Muscle Shoals. Finalist 2008 - U.K. Songwriting Competition - Folk/Country category. David will also have a question and answer session type workshop on Friday during the workshop hours where those in attendance can gain direct insight on how to become successful and maintain that success over the years as an independent artist. Karen E. Reynolds will be a Keynote Speaker at the conference and will speak during the Thursday night banquet as well as present a workshop. Karen has made her distinctive mark in the music industry. A staunch independent, Reynolds owns her own label; operates a booking/management agency for independent artists; has national credits to her name as producer, publicist or vocalist; teaches songwriting and music business for the University of Tennessee; is a Mentor/Instructor for the Country Music Hall of Fames prestigious 'Words and Music in Schools' program and is host/program director of Writer's Block, a radio program that airs ONLY independent artists. Karen is an Honorary Member of Indiegrrl Women in the Arts.
