About Me

Cheryl Lynn Brown Founder of LIVED2TELL Three times breast cancer survivorMs. Brown was born on September 10, 1961. She is a divorced, mother of three children. She received an Associate's Degree in Applied Business, from the University of Cincinnati. She is a member of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia where she serves on the Healing Ministry.LIVED2TELL is her testimony.Cheryl's story . . .Ms. Brown's primary breast cancer occurred at the age of 24, at which time, her left breast was removed and a saline implant was installed. At the age of 31, she experienced her second occurrence with cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy and radiation. Shortly, thereafter, the saline implant ruptured and had to be removed. Tram Flap reconstructive surgery (which involves removing stomach muscles and using them to rebuild the breast area) was performed. After the surgery, the Tram Flap failed and Lift reconstructive surgery (which involves using the back muscle to rebuild the breast area) was performed to complete the reconstruction process. This was only the beginning of the challenges that God allowed her to go through in order to build her faith and trust in Him.At the age of 38, Ms. Brown was stricken with breast cancer for the third time and had to undergo chemotherapy, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. With God's grace and mercy she was able to overcome. During this time, the Spirit of God spoke to her concerning her purpose for life:To start an organization that would allow her to reach out to other cancer patients; To encourage and educate women of all ages, including teenagers, to become aware of their bodies, to get yearly checkups, and mammography, where applicable, andTo be an example of how God has allowed her to "Live to Tell" her story. After dealing with three occurrences with cancer, Ms. Brown needed a change in her life. When God made that change, her life took on a new beginning, which lead Ms. Brown to LIVED2TELL.Visit our website to help support the cause by visiting: www.lived2tell.org or mail your donations to: LIVED2TELL - Cancer Support Outreach, Inc. My Interests

LIVED2TELL is a non-profit organization whose objective is to help alleviate people's fear of cancer and to encourage and educate women to get mammograms. The founder of LIVED2TELL was 24 years old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Therefore, she wants to educate adolescent and adult women about the importance of doing breast self examinations and instill in them the necessity of monitoring any changes that occur in their bodies as well as to help educate men on the importance of visiting a physican for routine checkups. The mission of LIVED2TELL is:To enhance the spiritual perspective of people dealing with cancer,To re-enforce to them that God's hands are in their situation, so that they will feel good about themselves and know that God is in control, andTo strengthen, uplift and educate those who fall prey to any form of cancer.

I rise You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirtBut still, like dust, I'll rise.Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? 'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells Pumping in my living room.Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high,Still I'll rise.Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops. Weakened by my soulful cries.Does my haughtiness offend you? Don't you take it awful hard 'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines Diggin' in my own back yard. You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness,But still, like air, I'll rise.Does my sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise That I dance like I've got diamonds At the meeting of my thighs?Out of the huts of history's shame I rise Up from a past that's rooted in pain I rise I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear I rise Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave.I rise I rise I rise.Maya Angelou
