"What a man desires, he also imagines to be true." ~ Demosthenes (384-322 BC)
We Are Here: The Pale Blue Dot
The Earth is in your hands
DANCE MONKEYS, DANCE!

Homo Sapien.

I am currently one of the many insignificant bi peds systematically trying to create my own slice of nirvana here on earth. My personal idea of nirvana may be different from yours, but all in all we are all yearning for the same aspects in life – the avoidance of pain and an increase in pleasure – whatever that means to you is within your own personal viewpoint. MySpace fulfills the need for the craving of attention, the “look at me - pay attention to me” type of childish behavior that continues even into adulthood. We are all ultimately children, even in adulthood. I suppose attention is what draws so many people to this website - It combines a potent mix of human desires. Personally, I find it to be a cosmos of individuals who think and have similar viewpoints as myself. I truly think I have found a place where I feel at home with certain individuals, even those I may not agree with. A profile is like delving into the psyche. It’s interesting to get to know someone on such a detailed level. We are never so outspoken in person. I just hope someday we can take it to the streets, rather than staying behind our monitors while we talk to one another, prodding, conversing, telling one another what should be done for the sake of humanity. I want to be able to look into your eyes, see your particular gestures, in person - gain solidarity. That is the final goal of a true friend, is it not?

It is the job of thinking people not to be on the side of the executioners. ~ Albert Camus

It could be said that I most likely sound like a person in the throes of normal human angst. Quite the contrary. But haven’t we all been there at one time or another? If you have never been there, well, I am totally worried for you. You are either in complete denial, delusional, or perhaps happy with your ignorance. In actuality, I am mostly happy with my life. I have all the food I could ever need, clean drinking water, my income is in the top 1% of the world’s population, I live in a nice home, I have personal transport that can take me anywhere and at anytime. In general, life is good. Of course, there's always the pesky little issues going on in this country and throughout the world that need to be nipped in the ass, but I will get to those in time. What I think I am missing most is human interaction. So, here I am on MySpace, trying to communicate with others. I find it interesting that in this day and age, we have taken human interaction out of the cafes, the coffee shops, and such, and it has now become digital. We are all here, in a virtual reality, but in a way, we are more distant than ever before, yet so close. I suppose this is better than having no communication whatsoever, but I still feel a sort of disconnect from the human community. I’m sure I will get over it though, just like time, mainstream culture continues to move forward. I sometimes wonder: 'May I remove myself from this speeding train?'

50% Grey - Or welcome to Hell
"I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center." ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Adriaen van de Venne's Fishers of Men. Oil on panel (1614) The underworld, the sea is unholy, we must catch all sinners and pull them up, by hook or by net, one by one, or in groves, onto the deck of the holy ship and into the domain of God. ~ Tegan

I reject organized religion. Why? I am convinced the main source of hatred in the world is religion. Everyday I see, experience, and read the bigotry, blasphemy, contradiction, and hypocrisy spewing from the mouths of organized religion. It lays waste to the human spirit. It gives hope to some, but usually disappointment to the masses. Many use it for persuasion and excuse to commit atrocities. I have been personally ridiculed by close friends and strangers for my lack of belief - or better said: the inability to grasp their belief in their particular religion; taken one step further becoming outraged when I deny my own belief in their particular God. Hypocrisy abounds. Across human society, religion is imposed on a large percentage of the population from birth, without so much as to ever be given the chance for free thinking and the decision to choose. No one is free from its grasp. Most individuals, in my mind, have been indoctrinated into this type of belief system, a system that in its deepest and most basic sense is nothing more than propaganda; illusions created to control and relinquish the individuals right to freedom of personal belief. Religious belief is based in, and dependent on, the conformity of a group of people to agree regardless of empirical proof of the system they hold so dear to their hearts without question. With or without religion, we would have good people doing good things, and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Recently, I received a perceived sign from Jesus. When I went to print out some documents the other day, I was notified there was a printer error and just one lone page was printed:

Now, with this sign, I may have to change my ways. A very hard decision to make, yet this might be my repentance.

Yet, I saw this video and think what we see is more probable than Jesus or God returning to earth someday soon:

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." ~ Bertrand Russell

With that said, at this point in time my views are more so based in the philosophical movement called Existentialism. In the end each individual human being creates the meaning and essence of our own unique existence on this planet.

I try not to follow the status quo, and I think our government and both political parties are not moving this country forward to a better era.

"A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one." ~ Alexander Hamilton

No End In Sight - The Movie

"Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you. ~ Pericles (430 B.C.)

The Ship is Sinking - Will you go down with it, or start bailing water?

"War, it will be seen, is now a purely internal affair. In the past, the ruling groups of all countries, although they might recognize their common interest and therefore limit the destructiveness of war, did fight against one another, and the victor always plundered the vanquished. In our own day they are not fighting against one another at all. The war is waged by each ruling group against its own subjects, and the object of the war is not to make or prevent conquests of territory, but to keep the structure of society intact. The very word 'war', therefore, has become misleading. It would probably be accurate to say that by becoming continuous war has ceased to exist. The peculiar pressure that it exerted on human beings between the Neolithic Age and the early twentieth century has disappeared and been replaced by something quite different. The effect would be much the same if the three super-states, instead of fighting one another, should agree to live in perpetual peace, each inviolate within its own boundaries. For in that case each would still be a self-contained universe, freed for ever from the sobering influence of external danger. A peace that was truly permanent would be the same as a permanent war. This — although the vast majority of Party members understand it only in a shallower sense — is the inner meaning of the Party slogan: War is Peace." ~ George Orwell

Wind Power here we come!

I am all about personal growth and becoming a better person. I feel sadness for people and animals who are in pain and/or are suffering. In general, I'm a fun loving guy, who likes to laugh and joke around. I have my down times as well but know this is just the normal ebb and flow of being human. Gaining trust, and being emotionally intimate with another human is important to me. I'm goal oriented both in life and in my personal relationships. I believe life is very short, and everyday must be lived to the utmost. I'm passionate about love, life, and the pursuit of happiness. I still know I have a lot to learn about pretty much everything.

“The more unintelligent a man is, the less mysterious existence seems to him” ~ Arthur Schopenhauer

My daily labor consists of teaching others technology. The one thing I despise, yet its influence on my life is undeniable. We are all using a computer right now. Think about life without technology, would it be easier, or harder? Some would beg to differ that technology makes our lives better.

Technological Frustration

Maybe the monitor should look more like this:

Other than your normal run-of-the-mill contemplation of the world, and the usual human angst, I enjoy the more subtle things in life:Intimacy, affection, communication, a smile, friends, fun, a future, water, hope, good food, a warm bed, excellent health, helping others, and family.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable." ~ John F. Kennedy

Some Words to Live by:

1) Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.
2) Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
3) Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
4) Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, in the present, you live ALL the days of your life.
5) Don't give up when you still have something to give.
6) Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
7) Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us together.
8) Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
9) Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
10) Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.
11) Don't forget that a person's greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.
12) Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.
13) Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.
"We admit that we are like apes, but we seldom realize that we are apes." ~ Richard Dawkins

TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF - The Survey

Name: Tegan

Birthday: July 19th Birthplace: Planet Earth Current Location: Los Angeles Eye Color: Green Hair Color: Dark Brown Height: Above the average homo erectus but below current homo sapien genetic mutations. Right Handed or Left Handed: Left-brained when using my right, right-brained when using my left. Your Heritage: Depends on how far back you go, in the last few generations Irish and Spanish, farther back it would be most likely within gene pools from ancestral populations. The Shoes You Wore Today: My shoes change on a daily basis although I have four pair I wear often; Puma tennis shoes, Alpinestar motorcycle boots, flip flops, and some utilitarian work shoes. Your Weakness: My personal perceived weakness is the inability to take advantage of my own talent. I think I am fearful of success.Your Fears: Death before self actualization
"I find that the sensation of myself as an ego inside a bag of skin is really a hallucination." ~ Alan Watts

Your Perfect Pizza: It would be less about the pizza and more about the location. I would absolutely love to be in Rome, Italy (or anywhere in Italy for that matter) at a local cafe, snacking on any pizza I can pronounce in Italian. Goal You Would Like To Achieve This Year: Become closer to self actualization.
Thoughts First Waking Up: I think I enjoy living in my dreams more so than waking up to this so called reality Your Best Physical Feature: My freckles, they are VERY SEXY! Your Bedtime: Night Owl Your Most Missed Memory: Spending time as a kid with my long lost childhood friend Krishan. Pepsi or Coke: Neither, I have learned that the water they use is usually highly contaminated. Personally, I don't like to drink fecal matter. MacDonald’s or Burger King: Neither, did you see Fast Food Nation? Better yet read the book. Single or Group Dates: The idea of courtship in this society puts too heavy of demands and expectations on both sexes. There should be no term used for "dating" it should just be called "human interaction." Lipton Ice Tea or Nestea: Tea is a favorite, especially on ice, but I find it also causes a lack of sleep and less dreaming, and I like to dream. Chocolate or Vanilla: Chocolate is an aphrodisiac, I like things that taste good and get you high. Cappuccino or Coffee: Neither Do you Smoke: Never have, never will. Do you Swear: Seldom Do you Sing: I prefer to hum along. Do you Shower Daily: At my discretion, partially because I do not suffer from hyperhidrosis, and in general I am a reasonably clean individual. Have you been in Love: Love is an emotion, or "feeling" per say. What I think was "love" was more like Lust. I believe true love is the underlying connection two people have who know one another so deeply and respect their autonomy to be who they are while at the same time building a life as one in an altruistic sense. This is a very difficult relationship to achieve for most people. I have yet to meet someone who completes me.(Update: I may have met this person, the one who completes me.) Do you want to go to College: Completed my Degree in Psychological and Cultural Anthropology at University of Washington. A Masters in Microbiology may be next? Do you want to get Married: Can't two people be devoted to one another without being married? Marriage is based in both church and state. Realistically, they should not play any role in the ability of two people (regardless of sexuality) to combine their lives together. Do you believe in yourself: See answer to “Your Weakness” Do you think you are Attractive: Attractive is subjective, and let me say some of the most "attractive" people I have every met were not in the least bit based in the mainstream culture's flawed viewpoint. There seems to be many "pretty" people on myspace, yet if you get beyond the facade, there is no substance. Are you a Health Freak: Try to be, but I usually succumb to the ice cream. Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby. Do you get along with your Parents: Yes, very much so. My mother is currently suffering from Alzheimer's. I am in denial over the loss of my mother, not physically, but based in personality. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease, more should be done to help others now and in the future. Do you play an Instrument: Piano In the past month have you Drank Alcohol: Yes In the past month have you Smoked: No In the past month have you been on Drugs: Don't remember
In the past month have you gone on a Date: See related question above. In the past month have you gone to a Mall: Mass consumerism should be banned. In the past month have you eaten Sushi: Yes, and I feel guilty for eating it every time. We all know the oceans are being completely decimated, I don't particularly want to play a part in it. In the past month have you been Dumped: No, but I did meet someone VERY special. In the past month have you Stolen Anything: Technically speaking, I have stolen clean air to breath, helped deplete additional species of fish, mammals, insect, and plants. I have also stolen food from others on this planet, and let the lives of innocent native people and fauna be destroyed by individuals who would rather make a profit and allow species to go extinct than allow Gaia to live on. How did I do this? By my presence on this planet. Ever been drunk: Although I do not do it very often, it's enjoyable to get drunk. Besides, alcohol is a legal drug in all 50 states! I can enjoy getting intoxicated knowing I am not breaking any laws. Of course as long as I am doing it at home, or in a drinking establishment, and not hurting anyone else. It's ironic that someone can't have even a gram of pot on their person without it being highly illegal. Doesn't alcohol cause more deaths and property damage than smoking a joint? How do you want to Die: In A Lasting Embrace~
What do you want to be when you Grow Up: A Child What country would you most like to Visit: Anywhere in Africa Number of Piercings: 2 Number of Tattoos: At the moment I have none but I am currently looking for a tattoo artist Number of things in my Past I Regret: I can never regret living life.

This is one of my most favorite quotes that I try to live my life by:

"To laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach for another is to risk involvement. To expose your ideas, your dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To believe is to risk failure. But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. Those that deny risk may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live. Chained by their attitudes, they are slaves; they have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free." ~ Anonymous

I'd like to meet:

Everyone. Every human in this world has a perspective that should be shared, acknowledged, learned, and valued even if it's not of our own. Possibly, in doing so, humanity would be a better place if we took the time to know thy neighbor, and cared enough not to judge, but to acknowledge the faults and move on. In my perspective, we would learn so much more about ourselves, if we just took the time to get to know the humanity you wouldn't otherwise.

I wouldn't mind meeting this guy (if he was a real alien of course), just to see what he really thought of us!

I wouldn't mind meeting this female android:

The Fine Print: "Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your home now. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned! Thanks for reading."

To my friends: I prefer to keep the top friends "drama" out of my life on my page. Do not be offended if you are not in the top slot so all can admire you. It doesn't mean I have nothing but love and admiration for you, because I do. I just prefer to treat all my friends with equal respect by combining them all in the myspace friends biosphere where we are all happy and content with our randomness and equality. Thank you for your understanding.

Heroes:

Minimal.

Anyone who can be true to their own persona without worry of what others think.
I think these two just might align nicely with whom I consider as a hero: Albert and Tyler

"Fuck damnation, man! Fuck redemption! We are God's unwanted children? So be it!" ~ Tyler

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." ~ Albert

But do you agree with this:

"Economically, no doubt, there are only two classes, the rich and the poor, but socially there is a whole hierarchy of classes, and the manners and traditions learned by each class in childhood are not only very different but--this is the essential point--generally persist from birth to death. 'Hence the anomalous individuals that you find in every class of society. You find writers like Wells and Bennett who have grown immensely rich and have yet preserved intact their lower-middle-class Nonconformist prejudices; you find millionaires who cannot pronounce their aitches; you find petty shopkeepers whose income is far lower than that of the bricklayer and who, nevertheless, consider themselves (and are considered) the bricklayer's social superiors; you find board-school boys ruling Indian provinces and public-school men touting vacuum cleaners. If social stratification corresponded precisely to economic stratification, the public-school man would assume a cockney accent the day his income dropped below L200 a year. But does he? On the contrary, he immediately becomes twenty times more Public School than before. He clings to the Old School Tie as to a life-line. And even the aitchless millionaire, though sometimes he goes to an elocutionist and leams a B.B.C. accent, seldom succeeds in disguising himself as completely as he would like to. It is in fact very difficult to escape, culturally, from the class into which you have been born." ~ George Orwell
