What is Green Unions?
Mission:
GreenUnions.org’s goal is to reverse global warming and save the environment by empowering and uniting workers, environmentalists and communities through the power of the internet. Our ability to live and save the planet is at stake. We enable labor and environmental communities to stop global warming by advocating clean workplaces and organizing green communities and movements. This is the compelling moral issue for our generation. We are providing the technologies to help.
History / Partners:
Green Unions is a partnership between Brooklyn College’s Graduate Center for Worker Education, Trade Unions, Environmental groups and technology innovator Urban Mono. Brooklyn College provides Green Unions with institutional support and Urban Mono provides visionary digital and Internet technologies.
Our Approach:
Green Unions is a web portal enabling unionists, workers and environmentally conscious individuals to work together towards one goal; saving our planet. Harnessing the power of the internet, Green Unions will be the first progressive social networking community focused on solving the environmental global crisis. Green Unions will unleash the power of peer-to-peer grassroots networking. Green Unions will feature dynamic online interactive tools to encourage and empower people to save the world. Vision:
Green Unions has a very clear and influential future; having a global network of active, united participants focused on saving the planet! Using the internet, individuals can communicate, network, share and document environmental issues in their communities using digital formats; photos, videos, blogs, and music. Unionists and workers can share their shop-floor working conditions to help health and safety and to stop illegal polluting activities. Work-environmental whistle blowing can be performed anonymously. The data we collect will help mark and predict global changes starting from local communities.

Green Unions is seeking to raise funds to help launch this movement. We have non-profit, tax-exempt, 501 (C3) status. You can help by donating what you can, every dollar counts.
Another way to help is to spread the WORD! The best advertising is word of mouth.

Temperature increases are taking place all over the world, causing stronger storms like Katrina. We should prepare for disasters, but it’s better to prevent disasters! The artic and polar icecaps are melting, if not stopped; the world-wide sea level will rise by 20 ft.
