Lives and Fictions

About Me

What to tell - I'm a writer of fiction, usually horror or other dark matter, living in Glasgow, Scotland. I've been writing for about seven years, with the beginnings of some success appearing. In 2002 my novel 'Cuckoo' was published in the UK in paperback, and I've had several short stories published in the UK and US. In 2001 and 2002, two of my horror-themed plays toured Central Scotland at Halloween. I am generally quite good at what I do. If you want to taste me first-hand (hmmmm...) then check out my website and download the free novella The Flesh Remembers , or the new collection of my previously published short fiction Dark Terrains .

My Interests

Writing and reading (obviously). Theatre - a hangover from when I used to be an actor. People. You.

I'd like to meet:

You. We could have such fun...

On a more serious note, the real reason I'm here is to try to find readers. Is that you? Is horror and other dark fiction something you seek out and devour? Then we really need to hook up...

Music:

Snow Patrol, Damien Rice, James Horner, KT Tunstall, Jerry Goldsmith, The Levellers, Hans Zimmer, Dario Maranelli, more...

Television:

Lost, Doctor Who, 24, Gordon Ramsey, more...

Books:

Books? We’d be here forever. Here are some authors who have entertained me particularly well over the last year. Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Terry Prachett, J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, Tim Lebbon, Kealan Patrick Burke, HG Wells, Brian Keene, Mark Chadbourn, Simon Clark, Michael Laimo, Yvonne Navarro, Steven Savile, Brian A. Hopkins, H.P. Lovecraft, Douglas Clegg, Robert Louis Stevenson, F. Paul Wilson, Gary A. Braunbeck, Mark West, Michael Marshall (Smith), Steven Savile, Bill Bryson… I’ll build on this when I get a chance…

Dying Days

It will soon be time for a sad parting.  One of my very nearest and dearest is struggling through the dying days, and it will fall to me, I fear, to end the misery, and deliver the final quie...

My Wallet Is Bleeding

It may be a fatal injury. This morning, I popped into the city centre to mail off a novel manuscript to a publisher based in the US (fingers crossed, as ever). In total, the novel in question haul...

UUUUUULLAAAAA!

If that brings back memories of soul-numbing fear, you and I are on the same wavelength.  In the history of British music, has there ever been anything more charmingly bonkers produced than Jeff...
