About Me

I'm what you might call a freelance raconteur. I am a writer of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry of several genres; a magician who specialises in bizarre magick, mentalism, and stage hypnotism; a theater actor (I have performed for University of Charleston Theater, Azteca Theater, CADRE, Everyman Players, Charleston Stage Company, and the Kanawha Players); and a fire-eater. To all that add just a touch of computer guru (I have A+, Network+, and Certified Help Desk Professional certifications). And for some strange reason, many people say I bear a striking resemblance to Dr. Max Graves, a wrestling manager in IWA East Coast .
All in all, you could say I'm just your everyday, ordinary, working-class enigma.
You can check out my website at http://www.brianjhatcher.com .

My Interests

Writing, magic, stage hypnotism, fire-eating and other carney acts, pro wrestling (especially IWA East Coast), horror/SF/fantasy lit and films, erotic lit, bizarro lit and films, history, the occult and the supernatural.

I'd like to meet:

Someone stranger than I. I sometimes do, on occasion, and I always find the experience exhilarating.
Here's proof:

See? What did I tell you? Exhilarating.

Music:

What do you have?

Movies:

I like all kinds of movies, especially the scary ones. I've had quite the love affair with Asian horror for some time now, and have been watching every Takashi Miike and Chan-wook Park film I can get my hands on. I also like surreal works by directors such as David Lynch and Richard Kern. I've yet to see my first Kenneth Anger film. I received a copy of "The Films of Kenneth Anger, Vol. 1" about a month ago. My education continues.

Television:

Who needs TV when you have books?

Books:

Fiction and non-fiction, of many different genres and subjects. I read about 2-5 books a week.Speaking of books, I highly recommend this one: Click on the picture above to purchase your copy.

Heroes:

Anyone who stopped trying to live other people's dreams and started living their own.
